Faction Bug

I've seen this Bug twice now over two resets.

How to recreate it:

When I travel up to Macedonia everything is fine. The animals and NPCs do not attack Mouse or Rat

BUT if I go to Mountainholm the bug starts at the caravan. The dog begins to attack the Bison. Then when you move towards Mountainholm cats, NPCs, etc. all go on a Rat and Mouse killing rampage.

If I then travel to Macedonia all the animals and NPCs are going crazy and attack every Mouse and Rat they see.

Yeah, that Animal/Commoner versus Vermin faction situation has been around for a while.

You'll see this happen every once in a while, and I'm not sure that we actually consider it a bug.

I tend to just think of it as a cropping up of public enmity against Vermin.


I only wonder if those bison are improperly in the Vermin faction rather than in the dog's Animal faction, where one would think they should be.

Whatever is triggering it, it happens when one goes to Mountainholm.

They don't attack the vermin in Macedonia until you go to Mountainholm.

That's an interesting observation, perhaps that clue might be of some use to discover how it starts.

I'll check on it today.  My suspicion is that is starts with the cats in Mountainholm Castle that hunt down and take out the mice.

I'll test it again next reset. I'll go to Macedonia first, then to Mountainholm, then back to Macedonia to see if they flip out.

Working on adding a bunch of new factions right now.  One of which will be for cats, another for "small prey", so that when the cats hunt the mice other factions shouldn't have a fit, even if in the same area.

That's what I was going to suggest but didn't know if adding Factions contributed to lag

Yeah a 'Hunter' faction would be a good catchall for any kind of stalkers/ predators

I went by Mountainholme today and saw a funny sight.  The Commoners are running away from the mice!

I tested it by bringing a mouse over near some commoners and releasing it.  They all ran away from the mouse.  

Maybe there is a version of "Carnivorous Mice" that we adventurers don't know about... I mean most common folk run away from the chicken variety ..... *

Like seriously, you see a gaggle of mice and rats strolling through your local market, do you keep on shopping or find a new place to get your food?  Granted that dwarf in Mtholme's open market is only selling camping equipment, but still....
