Bag of Holding

, I have a Bag of Holding in Velvet's inventory, last page, bottom right. Every time I try to open it, I crash to desktop. I would just throw it away, but what if it is full of BoMs?!

Can you open it for me and look inside and destroy whatever in there is crashing my game?

If doesn't get to you soon, after the next reset you might try using the anvils of updating in the Astral Conjunction.  I don't know if it will help, but it seems worth a try.

Are all your haks up to date, CEP, Q, and aenean?

Opening a bag would only really display the icons, and it could quite possibly be a bad icon file causing the crash.  I get that with new portraits that I forget to save to the right settings... they crash the client when it tries to display the image.

I tried both updating at the anvil, and then I went and loaded the May 7 updates, since that was all I had not updated. Still no luck.

Also tried exporting Velvet so I could try in a different module with DM permissions, and I could not export her, not sure what is up with that.

Just to rule this out, tell us what the number of inventory items is that is listed when you first login.  There is a known issue with being unable to export a character with more than about 700 inventory items.

Well, I had more than 700, so I gave the bag to Skyblade, who had same issues opening bag, but was able to export character. Opening in a plain jane module, I discovered the contents and I bet the issue as well.

The bag contains Gloves of Climbing, Ring of Jumping, Rod of Thunder and Lightning, Lock Picks, Healers Kit, Lab Key, Lysis keys x 4, Ring of the 5th order, Book: Colors of Aenea, Amulet of Abundant Life, 12 arrows of slaying, and ............. an AFK FLag!

I have had that Flag for 7 years I think! Anyway, I bet that is what is causing the issue.

No doubt. I've seen that happen before, an updated or outdated item causing all kinds of mayhem.

An AFK Flag item?   

The AFK Flag item .. used before the VC Command system was in place as a way of letting other players know you had ..well..gone AFK. It had pretty much the same effects as the current VC script but applied/removed them OnEquip/OnUnEquip respectively. IIRC it even gave you the glowing visual too (but didn't have any floaty text/auto-message log wording)....

I'm sure if I get a chance I could confirm/deny this to be the issue... I'm almost certain my pack rats have one stashed inside an e-chest ....

Getting the flag out of the bag of holding would require opening the character bic with leto and manually deleting the item.   could do that with leto.

Any of us assistant DMs trying to muck about with the bag in-game would likely result in the DM crashing just like the player client.

If it's in an echest container, that would require a DM removing the bag from the chest in-game, exporting then doing the leto edit.  Not sure if  could get into the chest contents the same way as with a character file.... or if it would be worth the effort should just replacing the bag and all the other items in it be faster and easier.
