Reincarnation and Ascension Bug Thread

I was filling up the main thread with bug issues. So I'll write down some of the issues I've found in this new thread instead of adding bug discussions to what is supposed to be an information thread. Some may not be bugs.

-Quest status remains intact when reincarnating/ascending.
-Karma remains intact when reincarnating/ascending.
-Ethereal chests remain owned (and still contain all their previous contents) when reincarnating/ascending.
-Gold stored with Arkon remains intact when reincarnating/ascending.
-Experience stored with Arkon remains intact when reincarnating/ascending.
-Upon initial reincarnation/ascension, the only item given is the . database item. Maybe the player info crystal and similar stuff could be given instead of needing to be bought?
-Leveling up does not refresh abilities/day, HP, or spells, nor does it send out the message to everyone.
-No relevel tools are given at level 20.
-There is no way to make use of Gift of Travel.
-There is no way to make use of Gift of Time.

Also, by Micteu's account, one cannot obtain another Amulet of the Wanderer, as that quest (along with all the others) does not seem to reset.

Even if other quests are purposely not reset, it seems that that particular one should be reset upon Reincarnation and Ascension. It doesn't make sense that after one loses all one's inventory, one loses the ability to regain such a really useful key as the Wanderer's Portal amulet. (There might be other quests that might need to be retakeable, if they provide a key of some type.)

Have you tried just using the ;;quest start xxxx VC command to re-intiate the quest ?

Is the xxxx supposed to be the number code? The code for the portal quest is 0002, and ;;quest start 0002 seems to do nothing.

Some fixed for next module update. Checking/working on the others.

I looked at the quest commands that we have in our VC Commands list, and it seems that one has to have Selected a posting or quest item before entering ;;quest start (with no number code, as the number code seems to be only for ;;quest status xxxx).

But for a quest that's initiated without some posting or item to Select, I'm not sure. Try Selecting the Old Man who gives you the quest info, before entering ;;quest start.

So far, the only quests/jobs the Select then ;;quest start combo works for are the job postings in Kerril's office and perhaps one other (that is obviously a quest item). All others currently start via conversation.

I'm writing in a command for DMs to remove quests one time per PC, that'll be done sometime tomorrow.

So to get my ascended PCs their quests, I would select Kerril and use the start command?

If they haven't taken them yet, you'd actually select the individual job postings themselves. Kerril only really handles the collecting/payment at the end of them.

None of my ascendeds have taken town quests since prior to ascending.

HOw do I select postings? I'll look again, but I believe the only objects I see in the town hall are the statues, the benches and kerril himself.

In Kerril's office, there are boards with a few notices posted. Several can be clicked on for their descriptions and/or use the Select tool/feat on (OOC specifics for each at toward the end of their descriptions).

Ah, yes.... I wasn't seeing them because their TAB glow doesn't show up very well! I missed them rather easily :O Perhaps tweak Kerril's convo to mention them? Like, ask him to speak to the mayor and he says his usual "He's not in right now", but add in "But while you're in here, why not take a look at the notices tacked up on the boards a the other end of my office here?"

And a thought... on the gift of X feats...

They mimic effects that are already in game and work (timestop, flight, and teleport).... Why not make the feats "activatable" (like Charge, or creature lore or any other activatable custom feat) and tie in the relevant scripts to work with them?
