MIA ... Alastair
Hello, all!
Has anyone seen Manny? He hasn't posted in awhile, and I was just wondering ... I know that some of you used to pal around together.
Just call it my need to know.

Re: MIA ... Alastair
Aye.. has been a while since his Quaking Chorus has knocked me flat and long long ago since I went delving into the beholder tunnels with him and "Juniper" - his little pet..
Maybe the stress of fighting Gron in the Great Hall was to much for him.. .. ..
//ooc.. I know from talking in-game and posts here that he and his ferret moved house some time back.. It would be good to see him return.. .. he was a great teacher and guide for many... ... I personally have learned most of what I know from him and Cridias...

Agreed. Alastair and I only hung out once, and he was of great help to Kaliria, but Grog helped her out quite a bit as well. Wish they'd both come back.

I haven't seen grog since his "40th Step of Lysis Party"... ... and since he helped to do this...
... I think maybe he ascended to be a demi-god at his lord Torgat's side...
Ye may notice I'm just bragging of past adventures lately.. .. I just worked out how to upload a picture.. and a picture says a thousand words.. ...
I just noticed Kephin O'Theroks name is cut off in the main forum view.. sorry..

Re: MIA ... Alastair
Ah, the joys of a computer kablooey. It happened too RIGHT as I killed a dracolich and was going to see what goodies it had....
No move yet (booo!), but hopefully I'll be with home with my lady and her kiddies by christmas time. And the ferret is doing as usual, dancing and pooping all over the place O_o
Seems everyone got themselves in a hurry while I was gone. Does this mean Al will have some more meatshields er, um, partners to hunt big baddies with? Looks like Gron has had a few parties in his flat while I was MIA

MannyJabrielle!
What's up, man? Long time no see! Are all of your computer problems resolved? As far as no move yet, I completely understand - the family and I are waiting for our neighbors to move out so we can move in - they've been moving since the middle of July.
That aside, it's great to see you around again! Welcome back!

Re: MIA ... Alastair
Computer... well, yes and no. XP reinstalled fine. I can't get into my data though. Not happy. Mostly over the music and photos, most of which isn't easily replaceable, and with the photos, not at all. Can't figure out WHY either... especially since other folders on my second hard disk open just fine after reverting from vista.

Re: MIA ... Alastair
File allocation Tables might be shot. Is the data you can access on a separate partition, or is it on the same partition as your windows install?
Was there any access restriction in place on your previous (now defunct) installation?
Have you tried chkdsk?

Re: MIA ... Alastair
Yeah, the tables were shot, just finished that a while ago. Glad it was only that, I was thinking access restrictions as well at first, although I apparently did remove all of them before the revert
I gotta say.... it's like I'm learning XP all over again. Im so used to vista and being able to do whatever I want with it. Now I'm getting baffled by little junk like how long it took me to remember where the device manager list is lol

Re: MIA ... Alastair
Oh I so do wish I hadn't lost my vista disc.
I am feel like a loner on the intarweb at times.... I think I'm one of the few people who thinks vista is (rightly) VASTLY superior to XP.
How I have NOT missed the BSOD, and various other errors

Re: MIA ... Alastair
I'm running Vista as well, and I'm very pleased with it. At the very least, it has a lot of neat bells and whistles.
But I do have problems with NWN running on my machine. I don't know if it is Vista or because I have dual core processors.
I've been to nearly every forum that talks about the problem (CPU affinities and the like), and still have problems running smoothly. Still, I like what I have, but wish I kept my old machine up and running for NWN games.

Re: MIA ... Alastair
My biggest gripe so far is multitasking, or the lack of being able to do so with XP. I'm definitely going to save up for another vista disc asap.
That, or pray I can somehow get a hold of the original, although I think it may be lost for good.
