Considering the added time and dedication needed to actually complete the goal of ascension on a "burnt by daylight" subrace, I was thinking as a nice little "perk" that upon ascending, the drawback of the daylight damage be removed. For drow and half-drow, it would be like their gain in power has allowed them to adjust and overcome their genetic disadvantage.... and for vampires and shadowchildren it would be more akin to their higher form simply being superior in just about every way to the extent that such weaknesses would be eliminated... shadowchildren become "balanced" and attune themselves to the light, and vampires tap into and restore the spark of "life" within them.

Since for vampires the danger of sunlight is so great, I probably wouldn't eliminate it entirely, but perhaps something similar to a cloak of shadows effect that continually restores itself when not in sunlight (so 50 rounds of sunlight resistance...5 real minutes before having to head indoors or equip a real cloak of shadows...).

I do like the idea that ascended vampires could gain something significant.

Oh, and I'm considering adding sunlight damage reduction to that nice little parasol item. Razz

was thinking maybe the "shadow cloak" effect and reduced sunlight damage?

Shadow cloak as they have mastered a technique of temporarily shielding themselves from daylight.

Reduced damage because ascension has made them more "alive" than they were... perhaps 15% damage per round opposed to 25%?
