A HUGE "Thank you"
,
I just want to thank you. A lot.
For all the time, all the brain twisting hard work, dedication,
love, money, and creativity you have put into Aenea that makes
this place so great.
It has truly been one of the best as well as most memorable
gaming experiences of my life... and I have been around, mind you.
That being said.... curse you as well... Single Player Mode
is now totally ruined for me
I keep looking for Aenean spells, or items, or VC commands...
it just sucks not having them all. I even bought Biowares premium
modules and cant seem to enjoy them as much either... its
just flat without the Aenean custom content.
And lets not even get into the fact that despite my being a
LONG-time D&D table topper, I seem to know the Pantheon of Aenea
better than the gods of Forgotten Realms, or Greyhawk.
Thanks again , for everything. Keep it up!
oh, and one last thing... a request... please try and get the
server back up soon? lol

Re: A HUGE "Thank you"
Thanks for articulating what many of us are surely thinking Dave!
, your work and dedication is appreciated! And to be honest, all the hard work and dedication wouldn't mean as much if Aenea wasn't, at it's heart, as interesting a world as it is.
I can type "info timeplayed" and "info xp" faster than I can type my own name.

Re: A HUGE "Thank you"
Warning: Crazy, totally whacked-out, insane idea incoming...
How cool would it be some day down the road, maybe years from now... if we could meet up somewhere with , and actually play a table-top session in Aenea? That would be like... better than any gaming convention in all the lands (not that I ever go to them... heh)!
If we could even convince to put up with us in person for a scant few hours, the travel involved and its associated cost will likely preclude this from ever happening

Re: A HUGE "Thank you"
I agree 1000% with daveyeisley, this world has spoiled me for other NwN offerings ... that's ok, though, as long as Aenea is around, we'll be fine and dandy! Thanks for it, Amethyst, and sharing your hard work and imagination!
We can dream, daveyeisley! It's not a bad idea - I've always wanted to see the US beyond good ol' PA ... and I would be VERY interested to see if my mental pictures of you folks matched up to your RL counterparts! Or perhaps some things are better left to the imagination (I'm thinking MannyJabrielle)! Yeah ... just kidding, MannyJabrielle!
Seriously, though, I'd love it - haven't played tabletop in ages, and my kids would enjoy having new playmates!

Re: A HUGE "Thank you"
Yeah , rock on , I was first hooked with your colour icons and GUI overhaul overides for single player... then I thought "The genius behind these runs a PW, that must be interesting"... it brought me out of single player and into on-line gaming.... I've been a few other places since and nothing, nothing compares to Aenea.... .... your hard work and dedication to Aenea and NWN is noted and saluted.. your keeping the game alive for me....
And a tabletop RP session with you all sounds great.... but for some of us thats some air miles for a DnD session... lol.... Its not like *I* could just *drive* there.... lol......
And those commands for Aenea fit very nicely into a custom text macro....
Label : "Whatever"
Command : "/tk info xxxxxx"
where xxxx is wanted quickslot function and all this without the " " "'s...

Re: A HUGE "Thank you"
True Story: When I first got the opportunity to play 3.0 , the person who set it up was a friend of my brother (I was actually 'tagging along').
A couple of years later, after WOTC let this individual go (as they did a large part of the DnD RnD team), he returned to law practice. But he would still fly back to the state to play in my brother's game every other Friday afternoon for quite some time.
I wish I and my fellow DnD players could do the same. It's a question of money, opportunity vs responsibilities, (maybe privacy), etc... And if we ever are able to meet, I call 'dibs' on playing the Wizard*.
* Nervously won't look Dave in the eye....

Re: A HUGE "Thank you"
I'm glad everyone likes the place.
Thanks for the compliments, everyone.
P&P D&D in person? Sounds like a blast. The cost to fly everyone to one location though... Well, we do have a Ventrilo chat server set up by Dave...
S'vair: In my P&P games, I adjust things a bit to account for players that want to have more than one of the same class in the group.

Re: A HUGE "Thank you"
LOL
How ironic... I was just wondering not too long ago if an Aenea RL meet-up had ever been attempted, and here is a thread discussing it... You people must have read my mind... Though I have never actually played the PnP version of D&D, just several different computer-based implementations of it, it would be very interesting to at least watch one. However, the stereotype of the typical D&D player is, quite frankly, terrifying to me, so...
The... ambiance of Aenea (pardon my French... ) is the closest I have ever come to the Golden Age of Ultima Online. Classic UO was the greatest game I have ever played. The fact that has gotten close to that is an amazing achievement. UO, was, after all, built and run by small army of developers and staff. has just himself and a few volunteer DMs. (Not to mention the NWN engine was never really made to do what he is doing with it...) Good going !
I actually did a RL meet-up with a few of the people I played UO with so long ago, and I will tell you the 8 hours or so I was there seemed more like 30-40 SECONDS. It takes several hours just for the, "OH MY GOD, YOU'RE _______, AND YOUR _____!!! YOU ARE ____!!!! *GASP*" etc to wear off... I, unfortunately, don't really remember much of it, it was just a blur... If you are going to do it, you better make it AT LEAST a 3 day weekend of it, or it won't really sink in...
As for how I found Aenea... I don't really remember. It was probably the UI remake he posted on the NWN Vault, but it was several months before I took the plunge into downloading and installing the several GB needed to actually log in and try Aenea... And... well... now I frequently think about it when I am not logged in... so, what does that tell you?
BRAVO !

Re: A HUGE "Thank you"
,
youre a genious.
We *COULD* use the ventrilo server to play tabletop!
All we would need is some sort of online client to handle dice rolling, so that everyone could see the numbers you roll on the appropriate dice
With ventrilo and a dice client, all we would need is a time to play and maybe a section on the forums to post and update our character sheets.
I think the dice rolling program is the only big hurdle.... but.... if I recall correctly, a buddy of mine found a freeware one online a couple years ago.... with some poking around, this could be doable
