Partially Used: Elder Brain revisited
First off, let me just thank you, , for making it possible for melee
characters to succeed in this encounter
I think the fight is at least fun now, and I don't mean to
be a pain in the you know what... but I have to be fair....
The change, while it makes the fight not suck for melee...
I think, dare I say it, also makes it just *slightly* too
easy. *dives for cover*
Im not totally sure, though because while I
saw offensive actions from the brain, none of them
affected me. Its possible if one of those actions
had succeeded it would have put me in the hurt
locker. So please don't take this as any sort of
complaint, I just remmeber past discussions where
you indicated you wanted that encounter to be
dangerous and challenging, so in showing my
appreciation for the change in mechanics
I am just trying to also accomodate your original
concern with this post.
Though, to be honest... rather than a horrible
effect from the attacks that rarely connect,
it might be good up the success rate a bit,
and have the effect be rough, but not
insurmountable.
It may already work that way, so please
disregard if I am off target here.

Re: Partially Used: Elder Brain revisited
I have noticed too that the meleeing the brain is fairly easy now. I had one incident where the brain spammed bladebarriers on me, but that was before the last tweak to the new brain to fix the XP/death problem it was having. It hasn't casted any spell at any of my characters since. The barrier spam was very effective and very deadly. It would blade up where I was standing. If I moved to a diferent angle, it would spam there, until it was surrounded by blades and being at melee range with it meant I would take damage.
I'd definitely love to see it throw some harder punches (physically or magically). The tileset brain ther has large tentacles slopped out, and while I don't quite see them as big muscle arms, I kinda picture that fight with the brain slapping those behemoths around, getting slippery goo all over (fall on our asses), whipping into us hard enough to knock us down, maybe even wrapping around us for a paralyze effect.
One suggestion I'd toss in too.... the brain 'creature' currently sits just outside the 'brain pool', far enough that a character can get "behind" it, and it with their back to the brain part of the tileset, wacking at the creature.... looks odd. Maybe place the brain creature a little further back so it appears to be part of the brain of the tileset?

Re: Partially Used: Elder Brain revisited
Just some thread necromancy...
The big brain's been beefed up very nicely recently. 150% improvement IMO (Hell, any baddie that can toast Angelica as easily as the elder brain does is a rocking baddie!)
Chuck this thread into the used forum to clean up the main suggestions forum?
