Used: Portrait Changer
With Kam's Character Editor mod, there's an option to switch one's portrait. It had at least the CEP portraits as listed in the CEP's portraits.2da, and I *think* it could also cycle through whatever custom portraits you have in your portrait directory....
With leto able to write changes to our character files now, perhaps we could have an option to change our portraits as well? I know for several of my own characters, I created them with one portrait, but have since found others which fit the character far more accurately. Currently I've simply over-written their current portraits with my own version, but should another player have that same portrait, I'm seeing them with my own selection, and not the exact one they have for their character.
I'm not familiar with the exact workings, but perhaps it could be done with a VC command... where the player supplies the name of the portrait set, "pc tool changeportrait po_elf_f_drow" for example, leaving off the L/H/M/S/T at the end, and the info is entered in for that character?

This would be ideal for my new character, a paladin for his early career before his fall....

Re: Used: Portrait Changer
This sounds ace, even more so for those that start of an idea for thier character, but find life/struggles/timespent in Aenea and the character evolves in a completely un-expected way... the portrait says alot about a character, it gives you something to look at to imagine "speaking" with them, it's on thier chat window boxes, bio and pc sheet...
I'd like to see this one implemented... after all it won't break game balances issue's or anything like that, and it's likely the scripts could "piggyback" off of the crafting scripts (at the least they'll likely be similar)... maybe I'm not a scripting genuis and have no idea how to do this, but if there is anyone that does know how, my bet's on .... ...

I second both MannyJabrielle and RustyDios - It's a great idea, and if anyone can do it, our Dragon be the man!

Would be very nice to be able to reclaim this portion of my PCsm and allow me to make it fit the evolution that PC has undergone

Re: Used: Portrait Changer
Not sure if this would work as haven't tried it but.....
Portrait is taken from portrait folder and file name. If you change the name of your new portrait to the name of the old, would NWN not read the file name and supply you with your new portrait???
Also with lots of custom portraits around would it be worth everyone submitting their custom portraits to a central resource so that everyone can see them in game rather than the blank one you see if you do not have the portrait yourself.

Re: Used: Portrait Changer
Hiya MM... yes that would work if you change all the files names (there are 5 per portrait).. and I believe this is what MJ has done for some of his PC's... however that method only works for yourself (and anyone else that has done the same filename changes) ....
... You second oint is well noted and I direct you to the following sticky on custom portraits here , and the two already availiable packs found here and here ... ...
What we would really like to see however is a way to change your portrait "in game" and have it save, but also so it would change for everybody that views it, this needs some possible LETO scripting to associate the new portrait file with your old character bic ..... .... and it would be ace....
@MJ: Your original posts mentions Kam's Character Editor .... I can't find this.. do you have a link ?

Re: Used: Portrait Changer
I'm with you now. A single Aenea downloadable portrait pack would be good, to work like the hak and tlk packs. I have some portraits that aren't in the downloads you mention. I'm not sure who an in game change would work, not that techie I'm afraid!! I assume that the portrait is scripted to a character and you would have to change this somehow, I'm guessing though.

Re: Used: Portrait Changer
You forgot this portrait pack, Rusty
And yeah... Kamiryn's Customization Overide Hak.
It'll change portraits (without leto). The drawback if I recall correctly though is the portraits available have to be listed in a custom 2da. Another problem with it not working for our characters on the server is that the COH uses the craft dialogue to change stuff, and has a custom craft dialogue already in place.
