Goblinoids and their Kin
Goblinoids come in several sizes as well as types.
Goblins are typically small weak goblinoids that are the most common, but their underdark and cave cousins are more powerful. There are rumored to be frost goblins, as well as goblins who ride spiders and worgs.
Hobgoblins are human sized goblinoids who live in the same manner as orcs. As such, they are often in competition with orcs. They also tend to keep other goblinoids as well as humanoids weaker than them as slaves, and may even use their slaves effectively in combat.
Bugbears are named after their large size and peculiar shaped nose. They are about the size of an troll or ogre, and have a society that is more advanced than goblins, but more primitive than orcs and hobgoblins. They rarely keep slaves, but when they due they are often favored pets. Bugbears are the only goblinoid that has strong family bonds and ties with their relatives. There are rumors to be frost variants as well as underdark variants of bugbears.
Gremlins are smaller than goblins, pixie sized, and often far more vicious than an rage driven tiger. While small and weak, they can reproduce to huge numbers, which is often caused by regenerative splitting in addition to ordinary reproduction. Gremlins are a big threat, but are very very rare. They tend to live in caves.
Jermlaines are small creatures that are pixie sized and are perhaps the most repuslive being I can think of at the moment. They live in caves and the underdark, and wear clothing made from filth, including feces. They often live in large tribes, and use spears and daggers made of bone, glass, or metal shards. Some Jermlaines are rumored to actually use their pet carrion crawlers as mounts, but if this was true, you would have as many as 8 of them riding those aberrations.
