Can characters below level 10 get some sort of break on XP losses? ( i know there is for 4 and below already but to be honest, it is not enough.... characters of that level are likely to die from just about anything including a crit from a stiff breeze... and earning the XP back is just atrociously frustrating).

I find that I tend to lose XP faster than I can gain it if I dare to fight anything that gives more than 4-9xp per kill. The word Tedious comes to mind.

Curses. Stupid laptop and tiny buttons on the keyboard. I'll try to provide a summary of what I had almost finished typing up.

1. Mixed feelings about the OP.
2. I start a lot of PCs. My favorite part is leveling a PC between 1-8.
3. The challenge is my favorite part. After a certain level (8-10), I feel little "real" danger, especially as I know what to expect.
4. I'm not an elitist. I understand how it can be frustrating for a new player, and sympathize. Shoot, it took me over 100+ hours of gameplay before I realized the importance of the relationship of the devotion between a PC and their gawd.

Conclusions:
1. I feel Aenea provides many encounters that are level appropriate, especially at the earlier levels and areas.
2. Unlike many tabletop games and the OP, players have options as to what challenges they may choose to face. A PC can find themselves over their head really quickly, but can decide to look for more suitable experiences.
3. "Accidents happen", and the penalties are sharp for 'younger players'. I would rather see newer players land on a softer cushion even if it meant 'older players' gained some advantages (perhaps a couple of tokens, to be used once each, and gained early on, that they could be used negated negative xp specifically).

Does that make any sense? Feel free to tell me that I'm mistaken.

Being a newbie here, I like:

* Starting at 3rd or ~ Lvl
* Player rewards
* Exploration rewards
* Bonus XP for various things

With these, I believe the XP here is fairly well done.

That said, Kill XP which is the most frequent gain is usually on the low side, as higher gains are often quite dangerous for that CR.

What I personally dislike and find frustrating are the Hard Core rules. It is bad enough to get into a surprise encounter with limited ways to survive at the lower lvls. But the bleeding rules seem rather unstable; can be extremely difficult to stop the process.

Recently, Aargyle was killed in a surprise 3-4 rnd battle, and his gifted bracers whisked him away to the Temple before death could claim him. Yet, it took many, many rounds for my precious PC almost faded away once again to death while the Temple priest NPC looked on apathetically. All I could do was watch.

While I understand heal kits in battle do not make much sense, neither does magic spells, potions, or much of any Fantasy world. Something needs to be done here to return the fun and enjoyment, IMO.

I think perhaps I'll extend the "smaller xp loss" to level 6. And by the sounds of it, the bracers aren't correctly stopping bleeding...I'll have to go in and change that.
