I've gathered from reading these forums that it's possible to have custom items implemented in-game for players, which leads me to this slightly cheeky question:

My character carries a spell book with her that once belonged to her father, and I'd really like for her to actually have this in her inventory in-game. I don't want it to do anything or provide any bonus or whatever--it's just a plain old spell book, but it means the world to my character, who adored her father and misses him terribly. Would it be possible to have this? I know I can just pretend she's carrying a spell book, but the perfectionist in me really wants it to physically be in her inventory.

I assume I'd need to create the book using the toolset, but I'm not sure what I'd need to do beyond that.

Apologies if I'm being presumptuous!

I'll have to see what I can do. Wink

In the meantime, you can have a stand-in book. Just pick up any random book, use the Select feat/tool on it, then use the pc tool renameitem xxxxxx VC command to change the book's name.

I'm working on a VC command that will allow PCs to change item descriptions like they can their biographies/descriptions.

Cool, I can definitely make do with a re-named book, and just wait for the VC command to change the description later. Smile

When you say, "pick up a random book" does that mean there are some just lying around somewhere (haven't come across any books in my travels yet), or do I have to "pick one up" from a shop?

Indeed ya can find books from merchants, and there are libraries scattered about, some easier to find then others.
