A Homcoming Gift For Aurora

Two not-so-serious forms made their way way through the Underdark tunnels, both cloaked in magic; a prism of various colors. They moved slowly and with purpose, but with the sound of chuckling heard from the smaller of the pair. They were seeking someplace specific; an obelisk of sorts. When it was found, both nodded to the other, and they proceeded to touch the small monument.

The taller of the visitors looked to the left and right of a small vestibule, a small frown appearing on her face. She had been here before by accident, but had left quickly when sensing the taint emanating from this cavernous home. She stood watch, and kept her attention on the numerous serpents that slthered along the floor.

The smaller one grinned. The owner of this dwelling had been wrong about him. He was not brave; nor a fool. He simply was who he was; a Gnome that believed in approaching most of his life with a bit of humor and jest. He kept himself reigned and in check during his studies and training under his famed teacher and mentor, but still found that any task was better remembered if it could be mentally connected to a smile or laughter. And he was hoping to pass this lesson learned along to his current hostess; an infamous, murderous queen of the Drow.

This visitation had not really been planned in any detail. This was more of an idea born of happenstance while recently shopping in Mountainholm. One simple stall had both items that caught his gleaming saphire eyes: a rod and a bottle, and the jest simply formed from seeing them both together. This Drow Queen had recently proposed to visit his family if any were extant, and her sneer made certain she did not mean this in any sort of friendly terms. So when the learned Gnome saw these two items, he conceived a thought to return the thought, but in a manner born of whimsy.

He was almost finished 'painting' with the small heatless fires spawned from the rod. The picture made was similar to the stars that painted signs of honor in the night skies viewed far above these caverns. But instead of any Divine purpose, this was a childlike inspired simple arrow pointing to the second of the items left on the floor.

He then asked his partner if she would inscribe a note for him. When asked what message should be left, only a single word was said: "Enjoy". And with small sounds of laughter that broke her previous solemn thoughts, she left the note next to the small bottle of brew; both lying upon the floor placed at the head of the imagined flaming arrowhead. And then they left as smoothly as they had entered.

And then the Gnome pondered whether Mistress Aurora would appreciate his gift: a bottle of sweet scented Gnomish root beer.

*In He'Levan, on top of a hill, a shriek of outrage and virulent Drow curses echoes out of a cave, and startles the wildlife in the otherwise abandoned and silent countryside. A bottle of some sort flies out of the cave, and is obliterated in mid-air with a sudden, ruinous flare of magical force.

The town of Le'Hevan settles back to it's ghostly quiet as the shards of broken glass rain down softly onto the field, and the drow curses and mutterings fade deeper into the cave*

Elsewhere in the Underdark, the echoes of Aurora's incoherent shrieks of rage reach Jinx's pointed, metallic ears...

Hm, it sounds as if Aurora has run across some sort of misfortune; how lovely.
