Why must a Paladin have Dalix as their Patron diety? There are twenty dieties but only one allows you to become a Paladin. I do not believe it's fair to restrict a base class.

Dalix is the Goddess of Guardians, Honor, and Protection, and the patron deity of all paladins.

It's kind of like how all druids are the priests of Andra (the Goddess of Nature, who has no clerics), and all blackguards are followers of either Ragnor (God of Destruction) or Sorgath (God of Lies, Murder, Foul Play, and more).

Those classes are gifted with holy (or unholy) powers, which come from the gods. It just makes sense to me that such characters should be followers of the gods that are concerned with those specific powers/portfolios.

Just wanted an explanation and got one, thanks! I guess it does make sense if you put it that way.

To continue with this thought, all Rangers are mentioned as also having Andra as a patron deity, but as far as I have noticed thus far, no special bonuses appear to be gained.

For suggestions, a fix for Blade Thirst spell would be great; no real reason to take it as is.

I've noticed that Rangers, when casting a Summon Creature spell, seem to actually cast it one level higher. Like, if you cast Summon Creature I, you actually get a dire boar instead of a badger. Kinda nifty, I think. Paladin Icon_smile

Thanks for that nugget. I have yet to play a Ranger past creation yet, so this is some good news. Smile

Yeah, I made a custom amulet for my Ranger with Summon Creature V on it once a day. So I basically get a dire tiger for the price of a dire bear. Paladin Icon_wink

Rangers are beings who know the nature around them respect it and are able to live in it. Derik Aerlias is a ranger and his diety is Harcoth because he is a sailor. The ocean is the nature that he knows and lives on. Just my own take of rangers ,but I always pictured them not as close to druids ,but more like a normal men/women who live off the land or water in my case.
