Just a thought... I do not have a Paladin character in Aenea, so if there is something I am not aware of, please excuse me... but I think it could be interesting to insert a quest, perhaps, that would allow a Paladin to gain a mount that could be summoned 1/day or whatever, that would come to them anywhere within reason, and maybe offer things like improved jumping ability, plus maybe a small amount of storage on saddlebags that won't disappear if the horse is killed or unsummoned.

Just a thought. I was riding a horse in game the other day and it made me wonder if there was some way for Paladins to call a warhorse.

Paladins of 5th level or higher can already summon a special mount. Smile

Just like a familiar though, when resummoned, it's the same as it was the last time when summoned. And the paladin mounts don't have saddlebags.

On my list of things to do is to try to find a way to modify the paladin mounts for more variety from the default...I just haven't found the right scripts/blueprints to change yet.

IF you are using the 1.69 Bioware Horses:

Lines of effect for Paladin horses.. found in script "x3_inc_horse"
432 = set prefix for paladin mounts (default = x3_palhrs )
2693 = get defined prefix
2707 = Create horse with blueprint "defined prefix" + "(1)"

..yet I can find no creature in the standard blueprints with the resref "x3_palhrs1".. so not sure about this.. ..

other paladin mount scripts include "x3_s2_paldmount" (dismounting), "x3_s2_palmount" (mounting) and "x3_s3_palmount" (summoning)

That was what I had found before. I'm still digging for the blueprint(s), but I've put it off for a short time since I'm busy restructuring the hak files and custom content for those hak files.

Now the hak overhaul is complete is there any update on this subject about non-standard paladin mounts (or an item/spell to give anyone a summonable mount)... I've been checking the Bioware forums and it seems that you can have a Pre & Post dismount script as well as a "Custom Summon" script.. and I was thinking that you could just overide the Paladin summon feat.. and then just copy the use/activation of feat onto a spellscroll/rod/item.. wouldn't it all work the same?... I'll keep digging ..

..It also seems that when creating a creature(mount) as long as it has "bx3_ISAMount" (not 100% sure thats the correct variable) set to true the new creature will behave like a standard mount... then surely that would be a case of just tinkering with a standard CreateObject & DisplayVisual & SetVarible style script..??...

... on a similar note and I've done this before ..(last time I checked) it is possible in Aenea to "steal" someone elses horse.. just by assigning it to yourself.. there are various "stealing horses" bug-fixes across both Bioware forums and the Vault...

.. the main guy in the know seems to be "Proleric".. and has helped countless people across both sites.. his "Builder Guide to Horses and Scaling" has some very in-depth lexicon style guide to the whole situation from a friendly "novice builder perspective" and "you know nothing so I'll tell you everything"... ...

I haven't abandoned looking into alternate paladin mounts, and I have plans for an (expensive) item that will let someone summon a horse 1/day. However, these are a bit lower on my list than my current project (the PC enchantment system).
