I can't see a level 6 character with no summons spawning *2* drow blacktongues of sorgath as an even
partially reasonable encounter.

Can we maybe have that bumped down to just one, please.

We also need to nerf the upper limit of the damage those negative runes dish out... it would be one thing if running across them damaged the enemies, too.... but it doesnt hurt them.... and taking 10 or more negative damage from a trap that cannot be disarmed or avoided and that does a damage type that low level PCs are not able to get ANY resistance to is too much.

2d4 would be more reasonable.

I'd rather not see Aenea start forcing players who want to solo into making parties. That would suck. Challenge is good, but the temple is too tough at current. Especially since the loot has been dramatically nerfed.

And at level 6, the Xp stinks too. Trainees are not too threatening, but only give about 10xp if youre lucky... i was getting 4 or 5. The drow warriors give about 100 *if* you can kill them, and thats about 50/50 for my level 6 PC... especially considering to get them to spawn you have to enter a room with a negative rune in it, and either start the fight down 10-15 hitpoints, or suck an AoO as you heal in the first round.

Kill one, get my 100xp... get whacked by the next, lose 300xp... yay.

The wizards take me 10 minutes to kill, and while they give 200xp or so, that usually involved me dying once or even twice... so its a net loss.

The pair of blacktongues... heh... i took me 15 minutes of "kiting" to kill two of them... for a meager 27xp each... and every other time i have faced them, they killed me.

And also, aint always a cleric online.

You just have to be careful, when you step on this trap dont rush forward to spawn the next group of enemies but stop and use a healer's kit.. i done this temple with a friend we both were levels 5 or 6, don't remember. And we didn't have a cleric with us.

I did that.,... i carry 10 healing kits with me, and I go thru about 4 or more on a trip usuall, just trying to get to the east wing.

They dont address the issues. The drow warriors in the corner rooms also spawn *when* you hit the trap, so healing kits are not an option.

Further, the issue is not about "oh, just get a party".... that isnt always an option, and even if it were, should not be a requirement.

I understand what you're saying ... those runes can be devastating, and then to stack quick-spawn encounters on top of that...

And, of course, I 1000000% agree with you that the circumstances shouldn't force one to party - i have partied from time to time, but I remain a soloist at heart, and being forced into a party for any particular reason would likely kill my enjoyment completely. I don't necessarily work or play well with others...

Well, and the fact that you have to cross *two* runes to get thru each corner room... god forbid you hit the east wing at level 6 without a party and without summons... and you still spawn two blacktongues in one of the outer rooms... you can't even really run away.... cuz you hit a rune... if you survive that, the blacktongues follow you into that corner room, and then you choices are to suck *another* rune to get out of that room, or to try and fight.... which is dubious against two sneak attacking healers.

I'm currently working on a "jump widget" that will enable PCs to jump over minor obstacles (such as the sorgath symbols), down from ledges (watch out for getting hurt!), or even upward (with a really high Jump check).

Working out the bugs with it now before I give the quickslottable widget to everyone, but it should nice once it's going.

As far as the spawns go, I'm looking into those.

Yup, for those times you should be able to jump over something smaller without anything really bad happening. It won't replace some jump points (like trying to jump over lava), but will be handy for smaller things. Once I've got it working right, everyone will get the widget in their inventory, and it's description describes the actual mechanics.

Sounds like great news Smile

While the widget is indevelopment, I would like to suggest one point to be incorporated into its mechanics:

Please ensure the animation is fast enough that it can be done "on the run". Reason being: if you are fleeing from enemies and wish to avoid an obstacle while in full flight, it should not be a problem to do so as long as you succeed on your check... in fact, running actually makes jumping *easier*.

If the animation is too slow, however, it will result in the enemies easily catching up, and smoking you before you can actually "jump", making the widget not a solution to the issues stated above.
