Might the elixir that's given be better than just a Cure Light Wounds potion?

The kitty makes an excellent point. It really doesnt pay to sacrifice items from inventory after level 10 or so.

Mayhaps the benefits could scale with the PCs level to keep them useful?

Seriously. After a certain point, it's almost an insult to consider a Cure Light Wounds potion a helpful elixir.

How about it being a Cure Light, but every gain of 5 levels by the PC increases it to a new level. a level 6 would gain Cure Moderates, a level 11 would gain Cure Serious, and a level 16, close to epic, would gain a cure critical.

.... And the epic levels gaining the odd rare full heal.... sounds good...

Have it give you some rare(r) potions too. There's one neat potion called a "Potion of Heroism" - that would be neat to see given to you on he ever so rare occasion that a potion is given to you.
