Fulfillment of a dream.
Yes, today I fulfilled a dream.
For all of the time that we've been together, Rebecca and I have never had our own home. The first three places we lived were college apartments with either no yard or a big communal yard that we couldn't use because of all the dog crap/beer bottles/misc. drug paraphernalia (only used this one to see if I could remember how to spell it! no luck ) . The next apartment had a shrinky-dink yard that the landlord took care of. Our next move was in with my mother-in-law, and she maintains the yardwork all by herself.
Finally, our last move was into a nice half-a-house apartment on the other side of my mother-in-law. The yard that we inherited from the previous renters (squatters, more like it) was a fenced in area that should have been a yard, but was a muddy, poopy patch of yuck due to their poor dog and their propensity to keep the poor creature outside. Being on a hill doesn't help the yard much, as the house sits several feet above the alley beside it, and many, many feet higher than the house right behind it. Erosion city.
Needless to say, we have been doing intensive yard reclamation work these past almost two years. We are currently regrowing a yard 4x4 patches at a time, and we are making decent enough progress that we needed a lawnmower. My mother-in-law has an electric one (we don't care for fuel oil ones - too stinky and environmentally unsound) which completely chaws up our poor grass.
Today, Rebecca and I purchased a push mower. It is orange, it has five rotary blades, and it is awesome! I have always wanted such a device, and I am happy to say that when I used it for the first time today it was everything I had ever dreamed of, and then some!
Scratch that off the bucket list, earl!

Re: Fulfillment of a dream.
you know, our yard at home is small enough that you can't even use a push-mower. Not to mention that the yard is mostly dirt covered. So, we use a weed-wacker (is that even spelled right?) at home

Re: Fulfillment of a dream.
Alright! Wanna come over and mow my lawn too? I hate yard work.
(That is, when I actually have a lawn.)
