in the vein of ben harrison's black/white weapon vfxs...

i've been playing around with ben harrison's override weapon vfx files, just kind of tinkering, really - any fool with mspaint can do it, but i figured what the heck, i wanted to see what i could come up with to spice up my pc's weapon appearances - and i know that because it's overide oriented, that only i can see it, but that is really all that matters to me.

so, submitted for your approval, here is VierzyneUmrae modeling the first of my efforts, a sort-of runic vfx.

It does look very cool.... there is a blade appearance combo in game that can look similar... (Look at Shouri's sword) ... but grat's for the effort .... any plans for any more ?

I don't know about the ingame combo appearance, but (I apologize, it's hard to see in the animated frames) the one above has either six or seven runic characters that it cycles through. I don't remember which ones, and it's been many, many moons since i've messed around with runes, but they are in there nonetheless.

I've been playing around with lots of designs. As i think of one, i try it out - many have been discarded due to aesthetic unappeal, or clunkiness, or just plain silly. But, yes, if I can get a bunch more decent ones going, I don't see why not to make them.

Oh, yes, I should note this ... VierzyneUmrae is wielding a longsword in the bit above, but as far as I know, ben has a replacement for every weapon type. And my little doodles will work nicely with his work, so I believe that any type of weapon is supported. Have to double check just to make sure...

I think you should put together a few of them and upload them as a package to the Vault.

You just have to make them separate downloads or different folders within a compressed file since they use the same file names.

Yeah.. I really like weapon vfx overrides.... I don't like the bioware standards... all of my weapons vfx are currently overriden with
this stuff here
except for acid (which is still "normal").. and most sonic vfx's (which are from here ) and the evil for axe's (which is broken on both my default nwn install for some reason and/or with using the 1st package above, so I use this here for that particular vfx) ....

Being able to mix and match some more into the mix would be awesome ..... ...

I think a cool evil effect would be to have small spirit faces spinning around and up and down the sword...for those soul devouring weapons out there.

Can i get that override btw? id like it to override the sonic effect..as i think the base one is lame.

Are you referring to the Ben Harrison ones I'm tinkering with? If so, the Black Fire Weapon VFX can be found here, and the White Fire Weapon VFX can be found here. I personally don't use the others that RustyDios does, so I canna vouch for their quality, but I'm highly pleased with Ben's overrides. Plus, it doesn't hurt that I can tinker around with them! I also agree with you about the original sonic fx ... that's the one that I overrode in the pics above, and do so ingame.
