Gotta love TV marathons
I've gotta say, there's something really nice about TV marathons. You can catch up on a season's worth of shows, or just record hours of a show you and your kids both like to watch over the course of a month.
Yes, G4 just started another Ninja Warrior marathon. My kids are watching it now, and I'll be recording about 6 hours of it to dole out as 1/2 hour "treats" when they behave.
Of course, I also like being able to get entire seasons of TV shows on DVD...much better to watch without commercials breaks, with back to back episodes, and without having to wait a week for the next installment. Just got to power through the final season (4) of Heroes in a week while feeding little ones.

Re: Gotta love TV marathons
I'd sort of given up on Heroes after the massive shark jump that was series three. Does it actually get any better?

Re: Gotta love TV marathons
Season 4 was nice...kind of getting back toward the character-centered stuff of the 1st season.
Of course, I could smack the writers for missing some obvious solutions to problems, but that's TV for ya.

I stopped watching Heroes when it became "How much shameless lesbian subtext can we cram into Claire's interactions this week?"

Speaking of jumping the shark, how many here actually remember the episode where Fonzy jumped the shark? An inglorious end to a really good series!

Re: Gotta love TV marathons
Avatar is much more enjoyable when you can watch the entire series straight through, in order. (hooray for Netflix instant viewing via streaming through the Wii!)
Re: Gotta love TV marathons
Or DVD box sets! I never thought I'd enjoy the series so much, but I think it's extremely well written (as it should be, one of the main writers is an Edinboro alum) - I find myself hoping for a second series, or something else from that team. And, it is really, really nice to have a high-quality anime-ish animated series that is really well written and acted that is appropriate for the kids - if I have to suffer through one more pokemon-esque stupid card-game based series (Yu-gi-oh! or Dinosaur King, or any of the other crap they try to pass as Saturday morning entertainment) or Dragon Ball Z suck-fest (I mean, come on now), I think I'll go nuclear ballistic, and not in the normal way but in the way Pres. Bush said ("new-kuu-lerr")!
Sorry. Rant ended! Move on, citizens, nothing to see here...

Re: Gotta love TV marathons
Have yet to find a better set than the one season Firefly & Serenity pairing. And for films, it is LOTR Extended as ruler of my collection. For a mini-series, I give the nod to either Shogun or Horatio Hornblower.
