Excuse me?
I am a long time fan of Neverwinter Nights.
I was trawling the N.W. Vault website last week looking for some portals when I noticed this site advertised on there.
I think there must have been a picture which caught my eye. (can't remember which one) So I decided to have a look.

Browsing through the few screenshots on the front of this site, there is a portal I really like.

Could anyone tell me please? Is that model in the CEP at all?
I have CEP 2.3. but for some reason, I cannot find it in there.
I must be looking in the wrong place.

It looks very nice indeed! Does it have to be activated at all, to be able to see the inside part of the portal, (the part which glows) or were one of the other portals used for that, which someone else made?

P.S. I'm not too sure what kind of world Aenae has to offer since I haven't had a proper look at it.

Welcome, TheLilOne.

That particular set of portal models is unique to Aenea and is not found in any version of the CEP. There's a lot here I've made specifically for Aenean players that is not "publicly released" for general use.

To see the Wanderer's Portals in action, you'd need to log into the game and either A) find the necessary "activation item" so you can access the portal controls or B) have another player activate the portal for you. The portals stay open for 1 minute before closing themselves, allowing anyone that steps through them to be teleported to the designated destination.

Aenea is designed to be a bit like a casual D&D game. Stop by, do some exploring, some fighting, some imagining, and maybe even some socializing...just have fun. It's basically an "action" server, with role-play initiated and controlled by the players.

Yeah we get loads of created "extra" goodies in 's world itself , in comparison to what he has released for the general public...

... And the haks containing some of the not-really-public-released stuff can be found here ... if you want to do some hak-pack trawling they contain alot of good stuff, just remember this stuff is NOT for ripping out and putting in your own hak (and doing so is kinda disrespectful IMO)

... and also have a look at the Player Build Module designed specifically for use of the players of the world to build custom items, design your character houses and create area's for use in the area-design contests held semi-regularly that may make it into the PW at 's discretion ...

So with all that info, why not have a look around at what is on offer (via the website ) and then come and join us for a spell or two ?... It'll be good to see you in game ..

Firstly.... as I read through the replies here, it sounds like this is an action/roleplay server.
I'm sorry, but I'm not really into roleplay, on account of the fact that I'm completely crap at it, and have a very poor choice of things to say in a roleplay conversation. If anyone knows of it, I used to play Avlis for a while sometime back. But I felt that I couldn't continue the roleplay knowing how bad I was against other people who were better at it than me. It makes me feel a bit embarrassed.... I'm like OMG! What do say? What do I do? e.t.c

In the end.... roleplaying isn't really my cup of tea. At least in a theater play, a t.v. show or movie, you are directed by script and story writers and are told what say, and how to act, which I feel is easier. (if you got the acting thing about you) Roleplay is a bit more difficult I think, since you are not directed by anyone, and everything you say and do has to come from you alone. I can't do that I feel.

Yeah.... you are probably right. My eyes were caught by 1 of the dragon ads (either 10 or 11) at n.w. vault which had a link to this WoA site. They looked so appealing. So I couldn't resist but to have a further look.

And thirdly.....
I still can't get over how wonderful that portal ring looks! It looks so much nicer than any others in the CEP!
I don't understand why "the ameythyst dragon" won't release it along with other stuff he made on the server for public use.
I'm sure there would be a ton of people out there who will love the stuff. I guess I'm just curious to know why not, and wonder if one day he ever will.

Out of respect, I promise not to sreal that wonderful portal and use it in my own world haks. I understand that.

It would be so nice if some clever person out there, could make something for public use just as nice as that too. *sigh!*

1 more question.
Until a couple of days ago, I never knew where all the haks for WoA could be found for downloading.
It makes me wonder...... is it not a bit risky to just give out a link to it just like that, with no thought as to what might happen, since the amethyst dragon doesn't want them for public use? I mean.... I'm a woman of my word, and I promise not to steal anything.
But it just seems that the links have been given out willingly when anyone could just take them if they not planning on joining your server.
I guess I'm just curious to know why it would be given out like that.

Anyhow..... good luck with WoA! I'm sure it's a very enjoyable world for a lot of people, and for people to enjoy a lot of good fun together.

Sorry to hear that. One of the good things about Aenea...the roleplay is optional.

The Wanderer's Portal is actually an entire set of custom-made models...1 ring placeable, 1 control panel placeable, 1 vortex placeable, and 49 visual effects (the glowing crystals)...52 in total, plus about a dozen scripts, a conversation, waypoint, and a trigger to make it all work right. It's not something that would work as a good portal as a "public release." for more inexperienced builders.

I do release some of my work for "public use" in other people's modules and PWs (some cloaks, potion bottles, rod and wand parts, mythallar crystals, vfx quivers & arrows, hat of disguise, tenser's floating disc) or just for general visual upgrades/changes via player-side override folder (GUI, spell & scroll icons, "classic" elemental models, health bar for red-green colorblind players). I have gotten a lot of good content from the community, so I do give back.

As far as not releasing all the other stuff I've made, it might happen someday down the road (at least a few more years down the road, if life ever interferes so much that I have to, Lysis-forbid, stop running the server). I make custom content for myself and for the players of Aenea. I like to have some things that are visually unique to my world, things that no other PW has (things like the Wanderer's Portals, the newly-revamped sewer tileset, the dome-covered villages in the Shieldlands, the visible headbands of intellect, the D&D-style ioun stones, and other stuff). I do sometimes show off screenshots or mention such things in online postings, but those are posts intended to draw in new players (or bring back people that used to play in Aenea).

There are many other talented model-makers out there. Have you seen these portals made by v3par? The vortex within them is what I worked off to end up with the smaller, orange vortex inside my portals. If you ask around (maybe in the custom content section of the bioware NWN forums), I'm sure someone might be able to make something more tailored to your exact needs...there's quite a few things that have been created by artists after a request from someone else.

Of course, having the haks available means someone could use my "Aenea-only" materials for their own purposes, but Aenean players have to have a way to download the content themselves or they'd be unable to even see it in-game (in fact, you can't log into Aenea unless you have the Aenea haks yourself). The vast majority of the NWN community is very respectful of the wishes of content makers. Plus, I think I keep putting enough out there as separate "public releases" to keep most builders satisfied (or at least pleasantly surprised when they discover an unexpected public release). Now, if only I could get better than 5% of the downloaders of my other stuff to leave a comment and/or vote.

Anyhow..... good luck with WoA! I'm sure it's a very enjoyable world for a lot of people, and for people to enjoy a lot of good fun together.

For what its worth, regarding role-play in Aenea:

Roleplay is only important on the server if you want it to be. You don't have to roleplay, it is not enforced, or expected.

Do we encourage folks to try to roleplay? Sure, but if they don't feel comfortable with it, or don't want to that is totally fine. One of the great things about the server is the players are casual, relaxed, and friendly. Often times, when a group of us is online, we just hang out together and kill stuff.... sort of like the old Diablo game... but with better graphics and a lot more choices

That said, if you want to take a stab at some roleplay, folks are very easy to work with, and don't ridicule or judge other's RP styles.

The main aspect of playing in Aenea is - "Play the game how you enjoy it, so long as it does not interfere with others ability to enjoy it."

True that, both and daveyeisley! I've been to a few places here and there, and been completely overwhelmed by the rules and whatnot that they had in place to enforce RP. Not so here in Aenea. Like dave said, it's a play as you want it server, no strings attached. We only ask that you not be disruptive of other players' enjoyment. Beyond that, have a ball!

Come on in and enjoy those portals! Along with everything else the Dragon has made for us! I promise that it's an experience like no other!
