Keen Edge: I'm doin it wrong?

Whenever my PC casts Keen Edge on herself (with weapons equipped), it doesn't seem to actually do anything. Have also tried opening my inventory and targeting my weapon slot when I cast. She's wielding short swords... can they not be keen or something? Do I need to use the 'select' tool first? Am I just an idiot (wait, don't answer that one)?

keen edge works only on slashing weapons. Short swords are piercing weapons, so the spell does not affect them.

Although I am not 100%, I believe changed keen edge to only work with slashing weapons. Short Swords are technically mainly piercing weapons.

For what its worth, I hope I am wrong, as I'm not a fan of the idea

However, why keep casting keen edge when use of a smite crystal will likely just add keen as an item property to them ?

A good point, and the same reason I never suggested making new spells for Bludgeoning/Piercing Keening spells.

Ive always been puzzled by the mechanics of the spell. It says only edged weapons....statisticaly short swords are called piercing. Yet i own a shortsword...and they have one serious sharp edge on them.

traditional gladius(roman shortswords) were used in battle with a combination thrust slash retreat thrust slash repeat pattern and posessed a wicked keen edge on em.

Mind you i realize its just a game mechanic but i think shortswords at least should be allowed to have keen edge.

Well, as soon as she finds a smite crystal, my PC's problem will be solved.
