Could the activation of these weapons be done using the OnEquip script?

The temp properties fade after unequipping, so if you have to do any weapon swapping the item is powered down when you re-equip... and that can be bad.... then you get item use lag after re-activating... which is also annoying and bad.

Having the items activate when wielded solves all of this, while still keeping the properties temporary.

Also, any chance that we can see an expansion of those functions, for those of us who don't wield staves/clubs, daggers, or spears? Would be nice, wouldn't it, to have the ability (through questing, etc) to have that functionality tied to a weapon of one's own choosing ...

I think the idea of allowing custom items to have the "levelling weapon" scripts added was in discussion. The Amethyst Dragon had said if it were added, it would be very expensive.

Wasn't able to find the post, but I seem to remember once upon a while back a player requesting to add the blazing staff functionality to a custom weapon on the forum, and The Amethyst Dragon allowing him to do so for 75,000gp worth of vouchery goodness. Don't know if policy would've changed since then, though; it was a while ago.
