Lost Upon the Trackless Path...

So Vaelyn finally got sick of having to run everywhere (albeit very very quickly), so she's making the effort to unlock the Wanderer's Portals. There's just one problem...

She's utterly lost.

Oh, she can get back to the Central Plains easily enough. But hasn't been able to find the valley that the old man spoke of at all. Unfortunately, she can only search at night, due to her 'condition'.

Is there a secret to finding the valley? A certain pattern she should search in? Or is it simply a matter of spending the time on the Path? Any sort of hint would be helpful, at this point.

There is a "map" for those that take the time to examine everything on the main pages of the website. It may take some searching to find that which is hidden, but it will prove helpful if the pieces are put together in the correct order, especially to those that must travel the entire path and return in a certain amount of time.

The "map"? Yes, unless changed the path in the last two or three days

Yeah, it's.. pretty impossible without said map.

Not impossible, even without the directions. I've known people to accidentally stumble upon the way through within 5 minutes of starting on the Trackless Path. There are also strategies for finding you way through...or at least knowing which ways not to go.

The "hidden directions" have changed location. You might want to think about which entity is responsible for those portals, then do a careful search of all the information on that entity and its followers.

Hehe, first time I did the path, was many many many moons before I found the "map". Ever since then, I've used that same "path" through, and the beauty of the Trackless path, my path works just as well as the path given on the "map", and I bet another player has found yet another path which they know and use which works just as well.

The path I found (at night) was using a trail of "Ginger Bread Crumbs".. And the markers on the mini-map, I believe it is another diferent route to /MJ.. it's the shortest, fasted route I've ever found, and it only has 5 "steps".... ...

.. I know from experience, that it is possible to spend anything from 5 minutes to 3 weeks (and thats 3 RL weeks at around 4-5 RL hrs a night, "at night in Aenea")...

Made it!...Ohhhh, man. Breadcrumbs. Didn't even think about that.

I think you guys are all smoking breadcrumbs - I can't find that "map" for the life of me.

It's not just the select few who can view this 'map'. It's all who know how to look

O.o I can't find a map... nor does 'breadcrumbs' seem to make any sense to me either. Considering there seems to be no logical 'mapping' to the area, since going back out of an exit you just entered rarely if ever takes you back to where you just came from.

I have a feeling I'll be spending the next month trying to work out how to get through this, unless someone can give me a less cryptic clue. - .-

I found a path by sheer dumb luck... 16 steps.

The solution is, no more than 5 steps after you enter the trackless path. Remember that since the area doesnt follow normal mapping conventions that sometimes "going right back where you came from" can lead you somewhere new.

Thanks for the welcomes The amount of custom scripting in Anea is mind-boggling, I am really enjoying myself. I appreciate the answers, though all they've managed to do so far is confuse me further (I'm so awesome), I think I'll just try that particular quest later on, when the 'White Lions' (forget their names) don't happen to be running about in that area, or at least when I can actually kill them before they kill me >.>

Using the clues from earlier in this thread, you can check the "map" page on the main web site.

Also, you could try bringing along small useless items to drop just before going through the area transitions. If you come across one you dropped before, you know not to go that way again.

Just for clarity sake, did you change that clue, ? What used to be there aint there no more...

The "breadcrumb" thing would work very nicely, but last time I tried that, the cleaner script ate the stuff I dropped. Map Pins on the minimap are cleaner-script-immune though

Yep... 'rillie tried it this morning with dropped leaves, sling bullets, and fire seeds... all of them got cleaned practically faster than she could even mark the path to test it.

Those Aenea cleaner scripts are real jokers.

That clue is well hidden, though it's location makes sense....

Ok... I used to know the old clue... I am totally not seeing the "new" one or its "new" location.... while I know the solution, now Im curious. I am having trouble believing people they they still see this "clue", even though I know nobody would be intentionally messing with me, or with Darius...

EDIT: oh dammit.... so, i went back in the thread a bit, and realized that basically spelled it out in an older post.... what was misleading me was his reference to the "map page" of the main website in his most recent post. I was going to the World Map, and didnt see diddly.... but thats not the right place to look.

So yeah, Darius, go back farther in the thread for the best clue from , and combine it with something someone else said about "tools" for finding hidden things...

And yes... those whitelions, ie. Invisible Hunters, are darn near overpowered for the areas a new character can run into them in. The invisibility thing they do makes you flatfooted and In my experience neither uncanny dodge or blind-fighting seem to help you not get sneak attacked to death (of course, that could also be cuz most of the time I spawn more than one of them, and they flank me ) One suggestion for dealing with those jokers.... find somebody who can sell you a potion of see invisible... it only about 300 gold (which can be tough at low level, I know) but then, you can see them from far off, they cant sneak attack ya unless they flank ya.

Hiya Dave... the "clue" still appears on the website ... in a location that is rather obvious when you think about it.... it is a small gift from the god of travel .... for those that want to see all he has to offer, it is the very last piece of information you can get from him..... .....


Another question though ... has the route been changed recently ?.. I could've sworn those first two directions should be 180deg the other way ?

As for way's through.... since the cleaner reaper of aenea got buffed, he does nick stuff quicker then you can travel (even at monk speed)... map-pins still work, providing you label them up with enough good information.... also.. perhaps a large party leaving one behind in each "new" section could work... come across a teammate and you know you've gone wrong, with one person noting the way they go... ?? .... .... or a herd of horses, leaving one behind, all horses named as you go .... .... mapping on (graph)paper will always help.. with each section numbered ..... .... or randomly stagger around ..... .... ...
