New events: Eclipses

We have full moon events, which are pretty rocking for wolfbloods.

How about eclipses? Solar eclipses would be great for prizimal worshippers to get some sort of boost. For clerics of prizimal, perhaps some boost to the turning levels for turning/controlling undead. Maybe some boost to their spell power. For non-cleric prizimal devotees, some defensive boosts.

For lunar eclipses, perhaps some good boost for wolfbloods, similar to double-full moon bonuses with a little someting extra since lunar eclipses should be more rare than a double-full moons... maybe twice a year. Double-lunar eclipses could provide an even bigger boost, but be even more rare... once a game year.

Upon reflection, all requests for checks made on heavenly bodies need to see me; is married....

I used that line at a party once. I got slapped so hard I was seeing stars.

Probably won't do eclipses (at least for the foreseeable future). It would involve redoing the entire system, since right now it runs on a "simplified" cycle of the moons only being up during the night with the different phases.

I might alter the system someday (so that, like in the real world, you can see the moon during parts of the day during certain phases), but right now that is one complex bit of scripting I'm not ready to tackle...since not only does the phases have to change, the specific hours of visibility and positions in the sky would have to change depending on the phase...and I'd have to alter the models themselves, since right now the sun and moons occupy the same positions (and I don't feel like having eclipses happen every month).

One may not need to make an actual eclipse, but in the period chosen, all the effects of the eclipse be allowed along with any shadow/ darkness related matters; no actual sky change needed. Add *text* to flavor.

That was my thinking too.... We got by with that before the Living Sky Project

I can see how would want the two to mesh together nicely though.
