Reincanartion & Ascension Question

I understand that you lose everything, except 1 item, a character's house, if any, but was wondering if that went for the dragon companion too? If you found and hatched an egg early in your PC's career. Does the dragon companion stick through, even after reincarnation and ascension or does you need to find an egg again once you do either?

The dragon should stick around. The reincarnation/ascension code doesn't erase that data.

Huzzah! That alters things a lot for my Druid! May have to call the little dickens Small Change, as it may just be a little copper for a while!

Wonderful news - now I can hatch one of the eggs I found the other day.

One other thing, read another place on the forum you could give items & gold to the dragon companion; how?
The only commands I have seen for the companion is. . .
;;dragon call - call your dragon companion from the sky
;;dragon fly - send your dragon companion into the sky


. . .actually, I can't seem to get those commands to work; have they changed? Else it might be a bug. Scratch that last part. The call command does work, but it gives me another dragon (which can be send back too), the first dragon I got from the egg ignores the two commands entirely.

First of all name your EGG.. the dragon will have this name when it's hatched... use the egg and a little dragon should appear.... talk to the dragon and in it's conversation you can give it gold and any items (that you have selected, one ring, one belt, one amulet).... talk to it and send it away...

the command might have the standard ;;tool dragon xxx format, but the tools will only work outdoors, so that might be your problem with them,...

Yeah, I did name the egg before using. I always figured out the dragon commands do work, the first thing I did when it had hatched was also to talk with it. . .all it does is showing up a blank line.

There's a bug with the dragon eggs. When you hatch it, the dragon that shows up will be in your party, be the correct name, but won't be fully functional. You will find that while that dragon is still there, you can use the dragon-call command, and have the "real" baby dragon show up (effectively having 2 baby wyrmlings until you log out, the server resets, or one of them dies.

This is *only* when you initially hatch the egg. After that, you only get the one dragon you're supposed to and he/she will function properly

If and when the PC Reincarnates, do the Attribute scores reset also? I expect that any Great X Feats will be lost, but what of the original Lvl Up adds?

Yes the attributes from level up (1 point every four levels) reset/are lost ... as are any/all feat choices ((except those made at character creation, ie you become level 1 again))... bonuses to attributes from any dragonsoul/rdd are lost too ...

What is not lost (to my knowledge) are any tomes that had been used or any stat buys from lady shea, as those affect the base score directly (effectively setting a new base score)...

You will also loose any items (and gold) except for one that can be saved by using the select tool on it and the VC command ;;tool itemstore, which will be "sent" to the database, you can collect it after reincarnation/ascension by using ;;tool itemrestore ...


A good way of seeing what your PC is going to be like after re-incarnation/ascension is to use a re-lev scales to bring yourself to level 1... mentally adding the bonuses to skills etc ... ..

Although last time I checked the Gifts of Time and Travel were busted, as is the Ascended Resistance to fire/cold ...

Also.. if you have some items that are *irreplaceable* (like stuff from the Anniversary, custom items, special DM-event loot, some dwarf/maker modified gear, etc etc )... then try and grab a DM and ask them if they will hold the item(s) for you.... if they deem that is an item that can no longer be obtained, and you have a good reason for keeping it for that PC, they may at their discretion hold the item for you.... you won't know unless you ask ... ... ...

Tomes/statbuys are not reset, that is correct.

Depending on what stuff you got... you could use a container as your item saved with the vc command. Put the stuff in the container, then use the command to save the container. I'm not 100% sure if the contents are saved across server resets, but I'm 99% sure they are. This of course won't work with non-transferable stuff like multiple voucher items, ect.
