Reincarnation and Ascension?

What classes are best for these honored choices? At a glance, I would guess casters as a rule, but wonder if others are worthy of this route. Any feedback from those that have taken thiese paths?

Every single PC gains substantially from reincarnation or ascension. Both processes grant bonuses that are valuable, no matter what race or class the PC is. It is true, some races or classes have features that make one or maybe two of the bonuses redundant, such as bright gnomes having better SR than you can get from reincarnation... but there is still something valuable and powerful for everyone, especially as far as ascension is concerned.

Except for the class you choose at 1st level, you can build completely different class sequences at each stage, so it really doesn't matter... choose whatever class(s) you want to play a LOT

Does a Wizard lose his accumulated spellbooks and start all over again? Or can spellbooks be stored away for the next life?

Does the character lose homes, etherial chests, etc?

Wizards (and only wizards) keep the spells they learned from scrolls (not spells learned at level up, just those from scrolls) *IF* your first character level was wizard. If you took your first wizard at level 2 or later, all your wizard spells will be lost when you reincarnate/ascend, or even relevel. And, if your first level was wizard class, even though you retain the spells, you cannot use them until you reach the appropriate wizard level to cast them (or have items with bonus spell slots).

You don't lose access to your player home if you have one in-game already.

Beyond that though, everything else goes byebye when you reincarnate or ascend.
