CD Key Variable reset Empty CD Key Variable reset

Post by Svair Mon Sep 12, 2011 6:06 am

Hello,

It seems when I attempt to log into Aenea I receive the message "Darfists Tunic". This might occur as I am using my old login identity with my new NWN copy (differing keys associated with each?).

The Amethyst Dragon said in this thread
If you attempt to log in and you find yourself blocked, I'm adding a command for myself so that I can clear the variables so you can enter the game and reset them.
.

Is it possible for this variable to please be reset?

Looks like editing my nwncdkey.ini, using the keys from my older installation, did the trick. Seems I'm good to go.

Alright.

I wanted to revert to my newest keys so that I could play the premium modules that were included in my NWN purchase without having to modify my nwncdkey.ini file everytime I switched between online and at home play (I've never played Kingmaker, etc). Run-on sentance is run-on...

1. I logged on using my old NWN cd keys that matched my online account (Successful).

2. I used the command ";;tool addcdkehy", and was logged off and prompted to log back in using the new keys.

3a. I quit NWN, and modified my nwncdkey file (tabbed out the old cd keys, reinstated the new keys), and logged back in.

Error: Received an error message that said the keys were already in use, and Aenea specific items did not have proper icons.

Aenea does not seem to be accepting new keys.

Not sure what to do next - just for personal testing's sake, did my Aenea cd key variable get reset/modified before I tried the above steps?

If it says the keys were already in use...are you using keys you got from gog.com? And if that's where you got the new keys, are they the original ones that came with the game, or did you go through their help form to get custom ones for playing multiplayer?

If you did get the game from gog.com and didn't specifically ask them for new keys for multiplayer, someone else may have already been using the default keys (which are all the same for everyone using that downloaded version of the game).

As far as missing icons go...that's very strange. You obviously have the latest hak update, since you wouldn't be able to login without the aeneahak_q.hak file. Perhaps try re-downloading the "patch" file? Maybe some of the icons got corrupted when you downloaded it (although I've not personally had that problem with anything from the Vault).

Hmmm... they are the keys I got from gog.com. I'll have to call them up for unique keys I guess.

Well crap.

My original keys (first linked to my online account), my GOG keys, and now my brand new NWN keys are not allowing me to log onto Aenea. I'm going to have to think about this...

How was it fixed? I'm having similar problems.. I also used GOG.com.. Also used the ingame tool to add new keys.. And last night it let me back in with the new keys after the restart.. and later it wouldnt.. just hung on a black screen and said server had timed out.. The new keys I entered were the replacement ones for online play from gog.

If the message was that the server timed out, it most likely wasnt a 'key' issue. It may have been a server crash, or somesuch.

If you want me to, I can clear the database of your CD keys so you can log in normally with the new multiplayer friendly ones. Just send me a PM when you're ready and I'll clear the variables, then send you a PM back when it's done.

So we are only allowed to use 1 set of cd keys per account? I have NWN on my laptop and desktop with separate keys and now am getting blocked.

You should be able to add more than one set of CD keys (up to seven). I haven't tried it myself yet (I have only one set of CD keys myself), but here's what should happen:

1. Log in with your existing CD keys (or from the computer with the existing CD keys in your case).
2. Enter the VC command ;;tool addcdkey
3. Log out (and close NWN). The game might boot you instead. (I don't recall the code right now and don't have the toolset open yet).
4. Change your CD keys (I think it's in one of the .ini files in NeverwinterNights/NWN/) (or go to your other computer)
5. Start NWN and log into the game with the new CD keys or on the other computer.
6. The game should record the new CD keys and tie them to your NWN username, then allow you to log in with either set of CD keys.

Thank you. I just followed your steps and it worked fine for me. It does boot you and when you log on with the other set of keys, it tells you the save was successful.
