Oct. 19, 2011: Bless & Prayer Modification

Minor update coming for the spells bless and prayer. This will be in with the next module update.

The spells will still function normally in most cases. However, if a positively affected creature has the same patron deity as the caster (and the caster is actually a priest (or paladin or blackguard) and not just someone using a handy scroll), the bonuses gained will increase (and yes, this should include the caster himself/herself). I figured tending to fellow followers of the priest's patron deity should come with a little bonus.

bless (normal friendly target): +1 to attack rolls, +1 to saves vs. fear
bless (friendly target, same deity as caster): +2 to attack rolls, +2 to saves vs. fear

prayer (normal friendly target): +1 to attack, +1 to all saving throws, +1 to damage, +1 to all skill checks
prayer (friendly target, same deity as caster): +3 to attack, +3 to all saving throws, +3 to damage, +3 to all skill checks

Sounds good to me. Will this change alter or eliminate the effect of Bless on quarrels vs Rakshasa?

We have those in Aenea? You must tell me where, I've never seen them yet ...

I cannot recall seeing one in Aenea, but have seen them in other PW's before coming here those many years ago. And knowing this obscure little rule implementation became part of the reason I chose to leave one of them, so this popped to mind.

Is this live on the server?... Has the spell/ scroll description been updated to reflect this change ?

Rakshasas are outsiders, and can be found as random spawns where other outsiders inhabit

Or you could find a friendly local shifter with outsider shape, but dont shoot them with blessed bolts or they won't be friendly anymore.

I don't know if the changes are live on the server. When I run across another Asis/ragnor/dalix follower, and I'm on as my paladin or one of my clerics, I'll check and see

Yes, the changes are live and work. Aerith boosted Anna's AB up a good bit.

And prayer still makes neutral commoners and town animals go berserk Damn religious intolerance!
