skill points at first level for int-boosted subraces
i've just started playing a bright gnome, which gets a boost of +4 to int. unfortunately, this boost isn't recognized at character creation time, so bonuses in skill selection end up being 2 points per rank short. moreover, there's any way to change this [correct me if i'm wrong], because of limitations in the game engine. even so, it would be nice to allow a player playing int-boosted characters to choose the additional skills which would normally be granted by the higher int, once the character's been created [for example, in the astral nexus during character finalization]. these skills could then be leto'd in, or else added to the pc skin.

AFAIK, the Skill Pts are correct (have two Bright Gnomes myself), but have not looked at the issue since the days prior to Aenea alterations (ie; non-booted, racial changes, etc).

i can guarantee you they're not, at least in my case [and i don't think my char could be special in this regard]. the character i just started was allotted the correct amt of skill points corresponding to her int before getting the int boost leto'd in. and this makes sense, too, because the game engine doesn't know about custom races, only the 7 built-in base races. the only way around this is to create the character with [e.g.] the prc character creator and have a dm put it in the vault manually ; 'normal' character generation using the standard bioware interface on-line won't allow any customization, even w/hak'd 2da's.

The skill points would not be granted at CC. Bonus skill points from high intelligence are not granted retroactively like bonus HP from high constitution is.
Having a section in the astral conjunction for adding the skill points may be the best... otherwise it would require a good bit of leto juggling when the character goes to actually level up at level 2.

Would a set of respec scales help; character goes back to 1st?
In my case, both BG's are also Rogues; plenty of Skill Pts late in the build.

well, normally deleveling scales wouldn't make a difference, because skills actually set up at character creation are fixed. if your character is deleveled to 1st, s/he still has the same skills and feats you chose at character creation time.
i say 'normally' because there are already so many custom-content miracles in play on this world, what you're asking for may already have been taken into acct, and i'm so new here i can't say for sure.

Additional 1st-level skill points have not been added for subraces. I'll have to see if there's a function for adding more via scripting...not sure if it's possible or not.

great! thanks for looking into this, . i mean, it's obviously not a show-stopper, but it would be a 'nice-to-have', esp. since investing in cross-class skills are a little more expensive but still make a difference in character survival.
