Level Vouchers and 40th Level PCs
A split off another topic, and a suggestion I've been meaning to make for a while.
The level vouchers are by default useless for 40th level PCs obviously (can't go higher than 40th), so once one hit's 40th, those papers of massive reward suddenly become permanent inventory clutter (you can't sell or drop them).
So... tweak the script so that when a 40th level PC uses them, he or she gets some straight up XP. In the palace orc bug thread, Dave suggested 10K. That sounds to be like a very reasonable amount.
The "XP" gained from a 39th level PC using a 1 level voucher is what? 40k? 39K? So in the long run, the vouchers would be far more valuable still to a pre-40th PC by a longshot even if post-40th they granted 10k.
As for other level vouchers, I would say that they should grant even more simply due to their rarity (you can pick up what? only one, maybe two 2-level vouchers? And only ONE 4-level voucher.... those are from reward chests only). For those, I would argue that given their supreme rarity, the 2-level voucher should be easily 50K, if not 500k (enough for 1 stat buy from Shae). The 4 level one, given it's requirement of 256 hours timeplayed, should be, if not used pre-40th, be worth at very least enough make 1 stat buy from Shae post-40th, if not two or even three. There's only ONE of those you can get, and the requirement to get it is huge, and it's a choice between the 4-level voucher or the 500K item voucher.

Re: Level Vouchers and 40th Level PCs
Agreed 100%.
I am hoping its not too complicated to add a check in the script to determine the PC's level, and if the levels gain from the voucher would make them greater than 40th level, grant a flat XP award.
1 Level voucher - 10kxp
2 Level - 50k
4 Level - 1 million at least (two stat buys or more)
The tricky part comes in if a 39th level PC uses a 2 level voucher. It should be possible, I think, to grant enough for one level plus the additional 10k.
And if a 37th - 39th level PC uses a 4 level voucher, then grant the 1-3 levels to get them to 40th, and then an additional 10k for the first 'overflow' level, 40k for the second, and 500k for the third (1 stat buy).
So, for example:
- 37th level PC uses a 4 level voucher, they get 3 levels and 10k bonus xp.
- 38th level PC uses a 4 level voucher, they get 2 levels and 50k bonus xp.
- 39th level PC uses a 4 level voucher, they get 1 levels and 500k bonus xp.
