dumb question ** SPOILERS - dawnholm **

ok, i'm really not getting this.
i've gone to dawnholm to research spells.
there's only one building in the entire city, the one at the top of the hill, which i'm assuming is the library -- but there's no way in.
if there's a magic door, i can't find it. i've verified my char does have the epic magic feat.
i've looked in the areas nearby [wanderer's portal, 'outside the library'] -- nothing i can see.
i've tried to open every door i can find, only 2 worked [smithguild and undead hunters].
am i looking in the right place?

Hints:

* check out anomolies in the surrounding areas; things that appear out of place in context of the greater space.

* Also look for transitions in smaller sizes than the norm (eg, not entire tile length or door size), and keep your view downward; not on the side of walls and such.

now, another question- suppose i don't WANT to destroy any of my items for 'celestial gold'? suppose i just want to pay REAL gold. how do i do that? my first time through it said my research failed, i had to destroy an item in order to get enough gold. which is silly because i actually have enough normal gold to pay for the costs.

My understanding of the process is that celestial gold is different from regular gold, and it is an absolute requirement - you cannot do the spell thing without spending some amount of celestial gold. Regular gold just won't cut the mustard.

The way to convert real gold to celestial gold: the ";;em gold" command. Without any arguments ";;em gold" shows the amount of celestial gold to your account. Using ";;em gold 1000" will transfer 1000 gp of real gold to your celestial gold account. I forget where the documentation for this command went -- it is supposed to apply some % penalty -- but it did not when I just tried it. Instead it seemed to increase the transferred gold by 10%. Be aware that the epic magic system is still considered to be in beta testing

i got around the limitation by buying a bunch of gemstones and converting those, but having to do that every time would get cumbersome, and i end up losing twice rather than just once. [although a cute lil' gnome girl running around w/a pile of 100 brilliant cut emeralds in her little hands is bound to catch a bit of attention, & that's gotta count for something, eh? ]
