I like to play monks and having seen the kamas which look like knives was wondering whether monk could be used in an assassin theme build.
Assassin or rogue could still be used but to those with a better understanding of Aeneas mechanics, some advice would be very welcome.
I like to solo but understand that a thematic build would probably not work at first solo but with ascension maybe could become more viable.

This is at the moment just an idea, and from any advice I get the build will come to fruition. Hopefully Very Happy

ALL comments good or bad welcome

All depends on what you are looking to get out of adding monk to your build from a mechanical standpoint. What monk class features/benefits are making you consider monk for your assasin build, just being able to use kamas? Or something else?

Not stupid at all, but you may need to invest in Reward Vouchers to get some more powerful kamas; not that many in game. Here is something of note from the Wiki:

■Only multiclass monks with at least 4 pre-epic levels in a class with maximum BAB can max out the number of attacks per round. To do this, a multiclass monk will need two-weapon fighting, improved two-weapon fighting, haste, flurry of blows and wield a kama in each hand. This will give 10 attacks per round, the most anyone can achieve:

■ 16 BAB at level 20 gives 4 main hand attacks per round (at least 4 levels of a full BAB progression class are required before level 20).
■ Monk's unarmed attack bonus with lower requirement for extra attacks adds 2 main hand attacks per round.
■ An off-hand kama adds 1 off-hand attack per round.
■ Improved two-weapon fighting adds 1 off-hand attack per round.
■ Flurry of blows adds 1 attack per round.
■ Haste adds 1 attack per round.

For such as this (minus perm Haste), you may wish to consider Monk 20/ Ranger 10/ Rogue 10, or for less skills and more BAB; Ranger 20/ Monk 20, and take all the Monk lvls in your Epic lawful life.

If the goal is just to get the proficiencies and extra attacks, then you only need a single monk level.

A full BAB class is also recommended for 4 of the first 20 levels, such as fighter, ranger, barbarian (hard to do due to align conflict with monk, but possible if you use the cosmic balance in mountainholm - makes re-levelling a bit of a pain though), paladin, champion of dalix, blackguard, weaponmaster, etc.

There is a case to be made for taking 1, 7, 9, 12, 15, or 18 monk levels based on acquired class features. Also, one of the best builds I have ever done includes 31 monk.

Check out the nwn wiki for what is gained at each level, and to cross reference the mechanics for how the abilities work.

An lternative to above: If your only looking at monk levels for getting the proficiency to use kamas--you could leave out monk class completely and look into using one of the custom vouchers to make an item with weapon proficiency: exotic instead. It'll leave you with creating a build centered around the use of kamas for maximum damage (can't help you there, I suck at tweaking builds Mad). ^^;

My personal thought: I think a Monk/Assassin build is good... (Stealthiness+Super fast speed+Death attacks+Use Magic Device = <3)

The kamas are less effective without the monk attack tables. If you dont take Monk, you may as well skip kamas alltogether unless you choose them for appearance only.

Monk was thought of for bladed kamas, look like daggers but then thought using rogue would get umd and crippling strike.
Monk was looked at for the amount of attacks but rogue still gets 6 - 7 attacks

Idea of ranger would suit well for dual wield feats and to up AB

Thought; Ranger 3.5 gets Hips. Maybe 1 level of SD for Hips but would casting II be more realistic ??

Currently liking a Ranger (20+) with his Hawk looking out, linked with Rogue (13-16) for IE and Crippling strike. could use fighter or COD (Dalix) for some feats Very Happy

Could go Ranger 21 (bane of enemies), Rogue 18, Monk 1.

Dual wield kamas, solid sneak attacks and skill points, favored enemies, some spells, monk attacks and flurry, and ranger will ensure excellent BAB.

If the only reason for going ranger is for duel-wield (ambidexterity and two-weapon fighting) have you considered taking the drow subrace instead ?drow

Then you'd have three classes to play with... ...

And I think that a Monk/weapon Master(kama)/rogue( or assassin) would seem to be what your aiming towards ... ...
