Question about NWNCX
So, finally decided to download this wonderful little program...but is a bit confused as to which launch mode I should use. The readme file introduces two options, but doesn't explain in depth about how you setup the second one (which also appears, to me, as the most complex one... :V)
Which way is the best/recommended way?
-- Launch modes --
There are two options:
* Run a loader that launches nwmain with NWNCX attached (NWNCX_Loader.exe)
* Patch your nwmain.exe to attach NWNCX automatically when you run the game (nwncx_patch.exe)
Which way is the best/recommended way?

Re: Question about NWNCX
Personally I use the loader... because I have already "patched" my nwnmain with a different camera hack, the two of which are not compatable (the NWNCX patcher won't patch an already patched nwnmain)...
This setup works very well for me as I get the extra visuals from NWNCX plus my (IMO) better camera hack working together.

Yeah, been using the loader too, for now anyway. A question formed in my mind, does the patcher alters the nwnmain file in any way so you need to make a backup before using it or is the two files patched up "separately, together" (if you can call it that...)?

Re: Question about NWNCX
You should always make a backup of a program before installing an outside "patch".
It's just nwmain.exe though, so at least it's just a single file to make a copy of.
I personally use the patch version, but that's just because Windows Vista was being a pain for me running the loader version, and I didn't feel like spending a long, long time researching just to find a solution.

Ah, I have Vista too, and the loader worked fine for me (the program requires to be run as administrator though, but that's pretty normal for programs in Vista ^^;..) when I tried it.The Amethyst Dragon wrote:

One thing which I noticed. Is it normal for the patcher.exe program to ID as malware (malwarebytes ID it as such)? I suppose, given the nature of the program, it's probably normal? I just can't help but be a bit overly paranoid when it comes to such warnings... :V

I believe what Windows or your anti-malware software is recognizing, when it gives you such a message, is that the patcher is about to alter a digitally signed executable from another provider. If the digital signatures were the same (I dont think the patcher is digitally signed in the first place), I believe the anti-malware software would not prompt.
Kef, it is possible this is also related to why you are getting "access denied" messages on your machine, depending on what security software you have running.

Re: Question about NWNCX
Unfortunately, you can't. The new visuals only show up in the game client during play.DerusTal wrote:More questions: How can I see the new visuals in the toolset?
