Cant log in

Hiya,

I basically installed everything needed. I can reach the server, and character selection, but when selecting a PC and clicking Play, I get a blank message screen and it brings me back to the main NWN screen.

I can log in to other PWs, so I figure this is probably a missing hak or something (although I verified and everything seems to be there)

One of the Haks may be corrupted; try downloading those again. This happened to me in the past, and was my source of grief.

Sounds like it might be a misplaced .tlk file as well ... I'd check those out, too, and make sure all is in order.

I did have a few .tlk files from CEP in the main dir and moved them, but no dice.
Also downloaded the aenea haks again. Same thing.
Tried XP compatibility mode with no change.

All I get when pressing play is an empty message box. Clicking ok (the only option) brings me back to the main menu.

Make sure the Aenea.tlk is also in your tlk folder.

Failing that, I have been able to resolve the majority of my issues by using this list in the order shown.

Could also be a bad version of the dialogue.tlk - did you download the Aenea version of Dialogue.tlk?

When you download that file, you should always make a backup of your original file, especially if you play on other servers.

In addition, if you downloaded your copy of NWN from gog.com and haven't gotten a unique set of multiplayer CD keys from them (link), the scripted security system could well be kicking you out.

The Aenea specific modified dialog.tlk file (which goes in your NWN folder after you back up your original one) includes text that should fill in that blank box that appears when you get booted.

Having misplaced my old CD key during my last move, I am using another one. I had previously played on Aenea, and the CD key does not match what I previously had
I am using another account and that works well

Out of curiosity, in your previous Aenean life, when did you play/what PCs did you play? Inquiring minds, and all that!

I had a short lived sorcerer named Nyall. Never did run into anyone else back then however.

Now I seem to be experiencing area transition issues.
My first PC got stuck exiting a town and my second PC is stuck inside Bluebeard's tower with no exits.
If I try to log in with either, the area loads to about 75% and stops loading.

Oh, noes!  You might have to wait for reset, which should be in about 5 1/2 hours from now.  Unless you find a DM to trigger it earlier.

Sorry to hear you're having so many issues, old friend.  Please don't be discouraged, this is such an superlatively awesome world once one gets little glitches like this worked out.

I just found out I have another bug.
Some doors I just cant see or click on, or go through (this is on another PW but may be why I could not get out of the tower)

Annnnd...ignore the above and give a shout out to THE most important file in all of NWN: The critical rebuild!

I was just gonna suggest that ... we had a player not too long ago who experienced a similar issue, couldn't get out of a building because his doors were missing ... turns out, he updated his NwN and ran the critical rebuild and all turned out fine!

I've been exploring (and getting hopelessly lost in the process).
There is lots to see!
One question: My PC has wings, and I was told it was possible to fly. I found the ;;style fly vc command, but apparently it might also be possible to jump within an area (in flight). How would I do this?

There is a feat/ability on your radial menu called Tool: Flight.  The icon looks like a little person with wings spread.  You can add this to your quickbar by right-clicking on an empty quickbar button, going to your (I think) special abilities > class radial, and it will be there somewhere.



Just use this to target where you want to fly to, and you'll get there quickly (as long as it's above ground and outdoors).  It's a very powerful ability, being able to bypass enemies and walls and such (although you do need line of sight).
