Don't appear to work? Trying to change any model appearances brings up this issue:
Weapon Alterations in Bluebeard's Tower 7d85e794bc0d5fc7f9bba7e98359301f

And changing the colors then clicking 'Change the Weapon' appears to actually delete your weapon.

Yeah, the weapons crafting items, both the boots and the crystals, have been borked for some time. I assume it's an issue that's on The Amethyst Dragon's hit list ...
