Once More Into The Ditch Dear Friends

*sigh* Yet another Tech related problem & question: How does one install Project Q?

I have downloaded and tried following the Read Me instructions, but am still getting a blank inventory page after getting on world. And based upon other postings, I must be doing something completely wrong; have had no lengthy DL issues at all. I am also anxious that I have gummed up the NWN files with the past attempts, so I also need to know which files to delete.

This stuff drives me crazy; reason I took some time away to try and become rational. Hate that Tech related issues are so difficult for me, and having to work so hard to play a game is annoying.

To download project q v2, you'll need the q-updater file.  It can be found at the new vault: http://neverwintervault.org/project/nwn1/hakpak/combined/project-q

It's a small download, under 3 MB.  Decompress/unzip it.  In side will be a folder called "q_updater_v2.0.  Go into that and there will be a readme text, and a folder called "Q_Updater".

Move the "Q_Updater folder into your root NWN directory (same directory as your module folder, hak folder, local vault folder, ect).

Now, after you've moved that into your NWN folder, go into it, and look for the two bat files, q_update_v20.bat and q_forceupdate.bat

Click on the "forced update" bat.  It'll bring up a cmd.exe window (black window with basic fonts).  It'll say something along the lines of "found nwnmain.exe.  Press any key to continue".  Press any key

It will then start downloading content you don't have/updating content you currently have in your Q haks.  It may take a while as others have noted, mostly because the updating is downloading the individual files and then packing them into the haks on your system rather than you downloading the haks straight away.

Once it has finished, it will display a message saying something along the lines of "Press any key to exit".  Do not close out the cmd.exe window until you get that message.

That's pretty much it.

After you run it, you should have two demo modules in your modules folder, I think some documentation in your docs folder, the tlk in your tlk folder, and all the haks in the hak folder.

The current list of haks is:

If you already have an earlier version of Q which does not have some of those haks, the updater will download the files and create the haks for you.  If you have none of the haks, the updater will create all of them for you.

It is asking whether the .erf is a File name or Directory name on the target???

... bwuh?

Could you post a screenshot of exactly what it says?

That's not one of the system messages within the updater or forced updater bats.... I am not sure where it's coming from, and seeing a screenshot might help me figure out what's giving it.

At the bottom after Docs (ie; Documents) it says:

erf
Does ..\..\..\ erf specify a file name or directory name on the target
(F= File; D = Directory)?

Is that out of your log file?  Could you email me the complete log file please?

er, No, I do not think I am able.

It packed haks, then .wav files, then .docs including Read me texts last. After this comes the message I made. Hope that helps.

Press D and then press Enter. Then let the updater continue till it finishes.
