Two suggestions really, but both relate to the same thing. Teleportation.

Yes indeed, the ability to teleport is without a doubt one of the coolest facets
of Aenea. Right now, Wizards and Sorcerors sort of have the market cornered
on it. Rogues can get in on the action too, and clerics can recall and summon
at the very least.

Now for class balance I can see why some things would need to be restricted
to certain classes to maintain the integrity of the intended challenge level for
combat situations.

Teleportation is good for only one thing in combat. Escaping. And that is only
provided that your current area allows teleportation.

So from a balance perspective, teleportation doesnt give any sort of
combat advantage. It might just help one to avoid XP debt, but the
potion of escape currently available already gives every character access
to this escape resource.

So, if everybody has access to the ability to escape combat in areas that
allow teleportation, what further benefit do the teleportation spells provide?

In a word, convenience. Not having to spend five minutes watching your
character run across multiple areas, and then watching various load screens.
Sure there are encounters, and XP, and loot to be had by walking it. And
there are many times where a player who can teleport would still choose
to explore on foot. However, there are also times where that walking and
fighting and going thru 5 or more load screens to get to a specific place
are nothing more than a waste of the player's time, and an irritating one
at that.

A character who can teleport (and has a glove attuned to their chosen
destination) can enjoy the serendipity of avoiding any such unwanted
time wastage. They can accomplish what they logged on to do in
less time and move on.

I suggest that a new item, a potion of teleportation be made
available in a non-remote location so that characters who cannot
use scrolls, or cast spells, but can afford to buy the gloves can
still gain the benefits of teleportation magic.

I know what you're thinking. Thats what the Wanderer's portals are for, right?
The simple facts is that those portals once unlocked, still only make a
moderately aggravating time waster into an moderately irritating time
waster. When you know where you want to go, but still have to run
thru 4 areas to the nearest portal so you can then use the portal and run
another 4 areas to get where you want. Is it better than walking the whole
way? Undoubtedly. Is teleportation still much, much, better? Again,
undoubtedly.

The portals have one virtue that non-spellcasters/rogues cannot
get in their teleportation magic. The portals are free once you
unlock them.

The potion of teleportation I am suggesting could be, and in my
opinion, SHOULD be very expensive, to limit constant use.
Somewhere in the neighborhood of 10,000 gold.

But it would at least give non-spellcasters the option.

The other potion I am suggesting is a Greater Potion of escape
that will allow the user to gain the benefits of a potion of escape
even from non-teleport areas much like a certain set of bracers
currently does, but, only when NOT in combat, without the ability
to automatically save the character from death, or the need to
be equipped.

The Greater potion of escape should also be very expensive,
probably 5,000 gold, but it would save players the
aggravatingly long walk out of a non-teleport area without
needing to swap gear around, or having to be careful
about how many sets of bracers they can stockpile.
