Since Vorshlag is located so close to the Vale, maybe the mayor's office would have some idea...

Nae.. it used to be that the first time ye come across him your expected to run away and report the finding.. the entry that states "...Maybe some powerful adventurers will come and slay him..." was then left as an open entry in the journal (1st tab).. later when ye have been back and slayed the beast it would change to an entry that said (along the lines of).. "you have bested the mighty Vorschlag but could not find his phy...."... and that would be quest complete(2nd tab).... some time ago i think it changed.. Jay has a stuck entry in the 1st tab after he felled Vorschlag (and got entry two)..but then went back with a group led by Velvet Stormcaller and the entry reverted and froze.. and has remained froze since.. no matter how many times I slay him.... ..... ....

Should have read this first. A level nine Fighter/Soulfire Warrior exploring solo down there to do the first part of this quest really doesn't stand much of a chance against a Dracolich... but I figured, well if the quest says [Level 10+] maybe... it's a weak Dracolich? ... Yeah he's not that weak. So quick question... since I don't have any of those fancy escape potions... upon a server reset... will those boots that teleport you back to the place you died... teleport you back to the last place you were? If so... I'm screwed.

Ask someone for some help and I'm sure it can be arranged if need be. There are countless people who can slay him and make room for your body to rematerialize, and would no doubt be more than happy to do so.... A question about Vorshlag Icon_biggrin

(Analo would, but she kinda lost her levels via reincarnation.... which will hopefully be restored with my time after school's over... )

I am guessing you mean the Soul Anchor boots, yes?

The good news is that if you are stuck in the great hall after dying, you can take the boots off before stepping on the dais, and you will go back to the vale. (unless its been changed, which I dont believe it has)

If the server resets while you are in the great hall, the next time you log in, you will be brought back to the Astral Conjunction.

So in either case, you should be fine.

The soul anchor boots work their magic the moment you die. Taking them off while in the Great Hall will still result in returning to life where you died if you walk across the dais.

Im assuming thats a new thing, cuz unless they were broken somehow many many moons ago, I was able to get back to the vale by taking them off.

Regardless of that, however, Darius' situation does bring to light a possible issue. As it can totally stink when the baddie depsawns on you after 30 secs in the great hall, but you also may not want to go back as you might have no chance of winning. Any chance the dais could have a check put into its script for whether the boots are equipped or not?

If yes, the boots are equipped, then PC is transported to the location of the coordinates saved when they died wearing the boots (if they didnt have the boots on when they died, no coordinates are set so this would theoretically default to sending them to the vale, yes?)

If no, the boots are not equipped, then PC is sent to the vale.

Unless there is some underlying issue with other scripts that might interfere or complicate it, I think that sort of check should be doable, no?

A question about Vorshlag Empty Re: A question about Vorshlag

Post by The Amethyst Dragon Thu May 06, 2010 5:49 pm

Wearing the boots at the time of your death is what "anchors" your soul to that location (the choice to be anchored is made by donning the boots before death). Been that way since I added them a long time ago.

The boots are kind of a two-edged sword. Sure, they allow you to keep going right where you left off if you are killed, but they also bring you right back to that spot even if you were killed by something way beyond your abilities.

I suggest not wearing them when trying to jump over lava or "bottomless" pits.

If you were wearing them when you died and you fear getting smacked down again, you have the previously mentioned options:
a) get a nice PC to come along and kill what killed you
b) wait for a server reset to "get out of the hall free"
c) unpleasant one, but remove the boots, respawn where you died, and try to flee that location before getting killed again...of course, if you die again but without the boots on, you'll be back to heading to the Vale on your next respawn.

Indeed, even having them in your inventory regardless of whether you were wearing them upon death or not seems to have the same effect. Tried the latter the third time I was trying to escape, took them off upon respawning, had them in my inventory, nothing at all on my feet, died again (obviously) and upon a respawn, found myself standing next to a certain Dracolich again >.>

Hopefully there's not much longer for the reset... got quite a few thousand xp to get back after that little episode... haha.

Yeah this is the stinky part. Would be nice to have them be a bit more user friendly, as trying to take them off just before dying would involve a quickslot being used up, and possible failure due to reflexes, lag, or other outside interference. Being able to do it in the hall is just better all around... I mean you already died once, and youre losing the XP... why have it so that you have to risk dying again just to get away?
