What's the technology level like, on Aenea, as a setting? Black powder, lower?

Also: What are Ironhearts? People with Mechanical enhancement, or half-golems?

Ironhearts are closer to Half-Golems, IMO. Very tough defensively.

As for Tech, there is black powder and alchemical equivalents, but mostly magic environs and gear.

I'd go for standard fantasy medieval... there is evidence of powder kegs, siege equipment (catapults, massive crossbows), telescopes and things such as this.. with the occasional deity built wanderers portal network (way above anything a mortal could build) and then the completely ludicrous magical powers and placement of certain houses defacing the twin moons... .... ... a real mixed bag, but not quite open pistols and lasers (even though the world setting is in a spelljammer universe - which has spacecraft and lasers I think.. search for the old Aenea/DnD pages to confirm !!).. even though some of the weapons (swords mainly) can mimic the appearance of lightsaber style technology/magic levels... and I think there is a few additions to the crossbow line-up that might make them look like old pistols/rifles (but it's been ages since I went looking around in the toolset to actually confirm this)... ..

From the main website ;
Ironheart (prestige class)

Obsessed with the durability of golems and other constructs, the Ironheart devotes his or her time and energies into transforming into a living golem. As time passes, the Ironheart magically replaces pieces of skin and flesh with hardened steel and adamantite.

Even though it states "magically replaces", Aenea is pretty flexible from all accounts as to the specifics of each particular individual.. if you wanted to make it known that the Ironheart abilities are coming from mechanical enhancement that could likely be done and there are plenty of "armour piece sets" that can support this (such as hooked hands and pirate style peg legs, silver coloured shoulder pads etc etc)... one of the joys of freedom and flexibilty of Aenea... I very much doubt that any player or DM here is going to force you into saying that your body is being magically replaced, if you wish to role-play otherwise... ...

Ahaaa, thanks you guys! That really clears stuff up- I had no idea Aenea was a spelljammer thing.

Yeah, it's amazing what Google, boredom and curiosity can show you when you have spare time to surf the internet. Smile

Limited Spelljammer, apparently. No guns/bullets, for example, or lasers, because of the effects of some kind of anti-tech field that permeates the world.

Or something. Heard The Amethyst Dragon say it once, from the original game setting.
