Demonspawn wings
The other day i was chattin with...er...i cant remember his name spelling now but i noticed his wings were gone.i asked him why and he said...they vanish randomly when resting. I scratched my head on that one....why do we lose our wings when we sleep? The whole draw to the subrace is the cool bat'ish wings you get and the power to fly. If im gonna randomly lose my wings thats gonna make it very un-fun to play. Ill just give my stuff away and forget the toon
Any chance of changing that?

Re: Demonspawn wings
Ye, I started a demonspawn cleric but when I found out the wings and tail appear and disappear randomly I dropped the idea pretty fast.

Re: Demonspawn wings
I almost quit my demonspawn, too.
Thankfully, I was lucky. I didnt make a demonspawn spellcaster.... as a warrior, I am not forced to rest as often.... so I do all I can to avoid it.
I still have to sometimes, and I get irritated everytime my wings go away...

Re: Demonspawn wings
The intent behind the possible changes during sleeping was to give a visible representation of the chaotic magic in your demonic blood.Kefrem wrote:The other day i was chattin with...er...i cant remember his name spelling now but i noticed his wings were gone.i asked him why and he said...they vanish randomly when resting. 1/3 chance, you wake with wings (and the ability to fly)
1/3 chance, you wake with a tail (and a +2 bonus to Dexterity)
1/3 chance, you wake with wings and tail (and both flight and the Dex bonus) and horns
all the time, you get the other subrace benefits
Re: Demonspawn wings
Sometimes I DONT get the CHA bonus.... it only seems to be there when I have horns.
The only benefit that seems permanent and persistent is the Spell resistance.
I dont think 30% XP penalty (ouch! man, is that stiff) is worth being able to only rely on the SR.

Re: Demonspawn wings
Dave's got a point. Reflecting chaotic blood or not, they're pretty honestly.. not worth playing. I thought they would be like tieflings, until I got to the lose your traits on sleeping part.
Besides, demons don't lose and grow wings at random when they sleep, so I don't see why their descendants would, really.

Re: Demonspawn wings
I dont mean to say i think they arent worth playing *at all*... they are.
To be honest, I would rather have wing loss issues than periodic alignment shift issues.
I dont think demonspawn are worth playing as *spellcasters*....
And I think the 30% is harsh given the changing traits.... if the penalty was reduced or maybe ONE trait was up to the player to choose and have it be permanent, that would be perfect.

Re: Demonspawn wings
Necro, necro...
As a player with a demonspawn PC I'm a little puzzled why this is seen as such a big deal. If you don't like the "roll of the dice" just take another nap when you pass the timeout to do so.
Doesn't seem like that big of an imposition to me, but I'm sure I'm not seeing all the angles. I'll say my standard: "I'm new!" in defense.
BTW, what *is* the Aenea forum outlook on necroing forum threads? Is it looked down on? Encouraged? Or a neutral action? Different forums adopt different schools of thought to thread necros, so I'd like to follow Aenea's convention.

Re: Demonspawn wings
Unless a thread is locked out, feel free to contribute, that's my understanding. Although you might check if some other thread has mentioned that a particular issue in question has been altered or fixed, and is therefore moot.
Since the trickle of activity on the forum happens over vast periods of time due to player availability, there's really no dead threads, and therefore no such a rule deterring one from raising them, insofar as I've noticed.
And welcome to Aenea!

Re: Demonspawn wings
odbo255,
Greetings, again! As Ramana has so eloquently stated, there is really no convention for the death of threads. If wants one to be inactive, either at his own whim or the request of others, it becomes locked up, but that's pretty much for bug fixes and the like. So necro away! We like necro!
