One thing I've noticed about several hunting areas is that it's very easy to quickly stuff inventory with loads of unidentified items like rings, scrolls and potions (mummies, flayers, beholders, being the biggest culprits). For many characters, it's no problem actually IDing the items. however, it can often take a -very- long time to meticulously eyeball each and every ring and potion, and then there's the process of stacking the stackable items.... For example, Alastair, my bard, can ID any item you throw at him with his eyes closed and drunk as a skunk. I use the altars of kalas to ID items though not out of the "Hey God-like diety type being, what's this widget do?" need, but just so I can save myself a half hour to 45 minutes of eyeballing stuff so i can stack and/or sell it off.

So, perhaps as an addition to the telekinetic claw, when we pick up items out of a lootbag, it also makes a lore check to see if we can ID the items picked up? It would cut 'inventory management time' down a great deal, still provide the need to find a bard/wizard/altar when there's items in the loot you can't ID, and simply be a great addition to an already great little gizmo.

For the purpose of Id-ing in an instant all inventory items.. the "Helm of Comprehending Languages and Reading Magic" now works to Id all scrolls in your possession once donned... though these helms are rare I don't go dungeon delving without one... great for instant on the spot Id of bags of scrolls.. then its just a case of stacking them....

Instantly identifying things as you add them to your inventory...not something I'm going to be adding anytime soon.

I am adding a minor magical item that will allow you to instantly identify any gems already in your inventory. There will be a usage limit (3/day) to cut down on script looping. If I did things right, it should also properly stack gems as it goes.
