As postings and notes are put up and taken down on the news bulletin boards of the Sleeping Dragon Inn, one may sometimes fail to note new postings or the departure of previous ones. Today, as you look towards the wall for new postings, you cannot miss the large oaken sign painted with the following black text:

I were lookin' ter scare up fundin' fer some projects o' mine.

Don't ye doubt, me services come at a premium, but be well worth me price.

Ye want yer fancy magic baubles ter go 'round slayin' evil?

Maybe yer evil yerself and want ter go 'round bullyin' and makin' the weak suffer with some magic toys?

I'm not fer carin' one way or t'other. Just be knowin' I kin make 'em fer ye.

Head out ter the graveyard, and wander ter the south. I'll be found in the woods there.

Out of Character Information- How this works:

1. First you select an item you own that you wish to add other properties onto. The additional properties may be the same properties that you have on a separate item or they may be totally new.

2. Next, you browse the contents of this post (specifically, the Complete list of Possible Upgrades below) for the item properties you would like to add to your chosen item. Be sure to read the Custom Item FAQ to ensure you do not select a restricted property (the restrictions on custom items also apply to upgrades).

3. Once you have a list of valid, available, non-restricted properties you wish to add, then you may check the contents of the next post down for the various previously posted gathering lists. If the property you want already has a gathering list posted, then simply check to make sure there are no additional restrictions in the gathering list, and proceed to gather those materials in-game. Post here when you have all the materials and I will try to catch you online to do the upgrade.

4. If your chosen properties do not already have a gathering list posted, then you may post an in-character request here and I will develop a list for you. Please be patient, this is all done on a volunteer basis and sometimes real-life does not cooperate with the goal of speedy turnaround. Also, to help ensure the least impact on the playtime of myself and other DMs, it is very helpful and appreciated if players requesting upgrades take the time to effectively organize the materials for their upgrades. It saves a lot of time and effort for the DMs if players are well-prepared when we come to provide upgrades.

Please, Please, Please, see this post for details on how to make your DMs life easier.

Note: Some players enjoy being helpful to others, and this is a fundamental part of the Aenean community. I would like to ask that help for the gathering quests be restricted to very vague hints to help someone find an item. I would also like to encourage barter or sale of the items needed for these quests, rather than just giving handouts. The idea is for the person who wants an item upgraded to put in some effort, or pay some cost in order to earn the upgrade. Thanks!

//ooc I notice you are limited to 10 resistance when adding resistance to slashing, bludgeoning or piercing on gear. Is that the same way on Custom items (used with the item vouchers) because the custom item FAQ in the forum gives no limit to resistance (including resistance to elements, only a limit of 50% on immunities).

//I also notice you have "Improved Evasion" listed as a feat you can add to gear. That feat is listed as restricted in the Custom Item voucher FAQ. Just thought you should know that... otherwise I might ask to add it to something. Smile

//Also it seems that the limit for extra damage is 1d10 for main element and than a 1d6 for all others. I would like to know if this also the way it is for custom items as this is not specified in the FAQ.

OOC:

Custom items are more flexible and have greater capacity than these upgrades.

If custom items have a restriction, then those restrictions apply to these upgrades. Hence, you are correct that Improved Evasion cannot be added. (it is listed in the upgrade list, yes, but it is not available. Not going to remove it because it would screw up the numbering and DMs use that list for other things like referencing property codes when we are manually editing items for NPCs or refunding lost items, etc)

Restrictions on upgrades do not apply to custom items. Only the custom item FAQ restrictions apply to custom items... but those restrictions do apply to these upgrades as well.

My dear dwarf, I find myself in need of your assiatance yet again. I found myself short of the required skill to engage a demon lord in her lait. Can you perhaps add an enchantment to my armor that adds to my skill at arms?

OOC. Dave, Velvet couldn't even hit the demoness lady, what do you need for materials to add say 5 attack to her equipment?

Master Dwarf, in preparation for enhancing my robes that I've ordered recently, I'm interested in knowing what you would require in order to allow my robes to grant me knowledge and skill in using a shield.

I'm also interested in obtaining complete immunity to evocation spells, and once again, am curious as to what you'll require to do such.

I would very much appreciate it if you consult the lists in the first 2 posts, as I went to a lot of trouble to format and organize them, so that I would not have to continually look things up for each person who made a request and then repost the info every time Smile

I don't mind posting lists for things that have not been requested before, but its just wasted extra work for me to keep reposting old lists, or to repeatedly answer the same questions about what upgrades are available.

It is a small 1x1 blue crystal that is found in only one particular place in all of Aenea. Someplace where magical force energies are very strong. Getting there is fairly easy and safe if you know the way... but getting close enough for harvesting the crystal can pose a small danger.

A very rare and elusive item, that most do not know about and need to read up on, obtained in a similar fashion to the way we get liquid elemental essences...

It does have a unique use too, I believe from memory, that it cast the following spells : Magic Missile and Lesser/ Greater Missile Storm.... although it has been AGES since I went and got one...

Limit of 3 Force Crystals per character per reset I believe.

Much like elemental essences, you must drop the ones you are carrying on the ground in order to collect extras.

The old dwarf points to a chest that has materialized along the back wall.

Put yer junk in the trunk, and we'll see about gettin yer staff magicked.

As fer Veleron, I can't tell ye much. Seems he wards himself against scryin' and divinination. Can't locate him, can't legend lore him. He must be able ter use his own magic.... and he's powerful. Nobody seems ter survive long after talkin ter him. Best I could get was that he were a demonspawn who got drained by a vampire as a young boy. He were hundreds of years old at least, maybe older. And he ain't got no fear o' the sun.

Master Dwarf,

With many of my lists nearing completion, but my order being backdated due to a 'lack of materials,' I find myself with a lack of things to gather short of excessively rare items. As such, I'd like to know what materials you would require to allow me to focus on my spellcasting, resist effects that attempt to disarm me and to help deal with other people's magic. In addition, I'd like to know what you'd require to add the ability to enhance my Evocation and Conjuration spells potency.

The new version would not have any of the upgrades on it. In most cases it would be no problem to fix.

Once again I find myself looking for more items to gather during my search for the rarest of the components you seek. As such, I'm interested to know what you'd require to enhance my Illusion and Transmutation spells as well as to make me more alert.

As I said in most cases, yes. Circumstances beyond player control, accidents, etc.

If a player chooses to upgrade an item they know will probably/definitely be replaced, or otherwise decides to do something that they know will result in the loss of an upgraded item, I won't be going out of my way to do refunds.

Upgrade refunds for redesigned custom items would be fine within reason. If I see someone upgrading 3 or more custom items and then redesigning them within a couple months (or even just one custom item with a gabillion different upgrades on it), especially if they do this on multiple characters, it will not be high on my list of priorities to fix. Plan accordingly to reduce or eliminate as much work for me as possible, please.

Is it possible to have 1d10 slashing, 1d10 bludeoning, 1d10 piercing, 1d10 "element", 1d6 "all other elements", "Extra Slashing/Piercing/Bludgeoning damage ..... ALL on the same weapon ?
