Feb. 11: Alteration to Teleportation
Sometime on February 11, the server will reset and the scripting/items behind your favorite teleportation spells (teleport, magehound, and summon ally) will be altered to use a combination of the VC command system and the player Select tool/feat.
When the change is made, you will need to transfer information from your gloves of teleportation and gauntlets of summons to the new system. This will be done with a single VC command and will remove the gloves/gauntlets at the same time (clearing out inventory space).
Testing is underway now. Several VC commands for the new scripting are already "live"...you can get them in the VC system FAQ here at the forum.

Newbie here, but does this older post mean that current items bearing the decriptors, "needs guantlets/ gloves for use" are actually not required?

Nope, no gloves or gauntlets needed.
To set teleport locations, use the command "tp set n" (where n is 1-25, or 1-50 for sorcerors and wizards). The commands "tp list1", "tp list2" and "tp listall" will show the teleport locations you've already set (only sor/wiz gets "tp list2" though). To select a location to teleport to, use "tp n".
Magehound and Summon Ally work much the same way, just substitute the word "ally" in place of "tp". There are also fewer slots in the ally list; 25 for sor/wiz, and I forget exactly how many for everyone else but it's about half (so no one gets an "ally list2").

Unless I am woefully unaware of a second way of doing it, but I am pretty sure all teleport
commands must start with the letters "tp" in order for the script to hook them.

It would be helpful if you could name the item in question.. this would aid in finding the offending item in the toolset, so it can be updated. If an item is in a shop/store/merchant/loot drop the place/location/monster is also helpful so can take the item out/place the new one in/ update the descriptions... if its a spell/scroll then may also need to possibly edit the tlk ....

I believe it was a Helm of Teleportation sold in the magic shop of Mountainholm.
I also saw some glove notations on scrolls for that Magehound spell and Summon Ally, I believe; the latter may be in the glade being sold by the Cleric of Mystara.
