I was really shocked when I came across this on the vault today ... (honest - really shocked)...

Rusty's Scrolls

I know it's a shameless plug ...
But it was fully created with Aenea and it's players in mind..
Hope you guys like it ...

Thank ye.. Now lets just hope people like it.. and all the hard work was worth it....... ... well even if no one else likes it.. at least it makes my game look better in my opinion...

...and it feels so good to finally give something back to the NWN community....

I downloaded it, looks great, installing em to check it out now.

Very neat... got it downloaded... havent had time to pop them in yet...

Is it an override package? I'm having an issue with my Vault account, but will DL and vote/flame as soon as I am able! The previews look helluva cool, by the by!

Thanks Eric... I hope ye get your password issue's sorted, I hate not being able to log into the Vault and vote on content/comment on stuff...

I'm slowly working on "slightly" updating them already, just to "clean them up a bit"... I was thinking of leaving these ones there still, I like the way look "run down and rustic".. much more scroll-like for the average tech/age/timescale for most DnD worlds... ... however interest was shown for clearer/cleaner icons (and a big purple friend showed me what CAN be done with better software).. so I'm teaching myself how to use Gimp, and working on all 447 icons.. pixel by pixel... ... untill I find a way to "smooth them over and clarify them" that doesn't completely distort the image... it's the only way I know how... ... .. coming from using standard Microsoft Paint and a TGA alpha layer adding program to a full-blown Graphical Design suite is not an easy transition, yet I feel I'm making some progress, and many days of toying about in Photoshop on my brothers old apple are slowly creeping back into my head.... Gimp's "new" to me, but many of the functions are the same, it's just a case of finding what does what, whats new, how things are done now vs back then.... and then filtering 101 childhood memories into something useful and constructive ...

Am I rambling on here ?... I think mayhaps time to stop drinking for the night ?

I've used Gimp for a short time. It was useful for some .dds work I did once before I could get my photoshop to handle that format correctly, but overall I found that you get what you pay for with Gimp.... and seeing as it's free and you don't pay anything for it...

If you can manage it, even a low end program like paintshop is a step up from Gimp. Easier to use, and although it's not as robust as photoshop, it allows for far greater controll over color balancing and such.

I've seen these in-game now, and I think they look swelligant! RustyDios, I'm giving you a 10 now, and I'll make it official as soon as I can! Great job, mate!

Just to plug away again... my next submission is up and can be found here

This isn't an improvement on the scrolls.. it's an Item Storage Device, based on the Ring of Ethereal Storage (thanks Eric!) and the Markshire persistent chests... It's mainly designed for introduction into a single player game, but it might work in a PW, I'm not sure...

Hope people like it.. (and I see it already has 5 dl's, wow, in under 3hrs!)

Wow...thanks RustyDios, that's awesome! I'm speechless (or typeless, in this case)!

Just thought I'd put a little nod up here that I've updated and "improved" the Item Storage Device... it now uses some default Bioware Database functions to make it truely persistent, not just over saved games but between different modules as well... .. although the more items that are stored within (and there could potentially be thousands) the longer it takes to store them all... ... and the game will appear to lag a little as it gets them all down in memory...

Yes, it can.

Updated hak with coloured scrolls for Aenea's 14 new spells has been added to the vault here

Updated this again .... finally .. .. .. ... ((one project done ~ six billion other things to still do ... okay maybe that is an overstatement, but I'm sure you all know what I mean!! )) ..

Now you can have the choice between Default Bioware Scrolls, Rustic Coloured Scrolls or Glossed Coloured Scrolls or mix and match if you really want to go that far into selective override files .... ... ...

.... and still found here on the vault.... ...

And an appetiser screenie to save you from going and looking .... although the forum view doesn't really distinguish the differences, so you may as well go look anyway... ...

Yes, yes, they look glossily delicious! Just DLed them a few ago, and will try out soon!

For the few that downloaded the update yesterday, I just realised that I forgot to add the Glossed scroll for Ice Dagger... So I've uploaded just this file for those guys/girls.. .... .... ....

It doesn't matter how many times I check something before uploading it...

No. No it does not.

We could ask how many emails has gotten from me regarding certain submissions,
be they custom items or monsters/areas.

I am particularly guilty of the "doh! forgot to attach the file!" blunder.

That said, great work on the scrolls, Rusty!

And... for those that have these..... I know it's my work... but.... well ...

After the MAY 15th 2010 Aenea patch... has done some AWESOME work, matching the spell and scroll icons, in full colour, for the players of Aenea... ((and anyone that wants to export them to the override folder from the _r.hak ~ for use in any game.. they be the .tga files starting in iss_xxxxxx (and spell icons are is_xxxx)......


I would seriously suggest doing this.... as well.... is a MASTER of icon/gui updates/overhauls... and his icons are.. well... "better then mine"... (for lack of appropriate words to describe how awesome they are.. and I'm still in shocked awe...) .....

Ah, but all of the new ones will have the same "paper color", so you could make a new set to take advantage of that difference.

And I'll be releasing the new ones in a little while as an override for playing other modules, so no real need to do it yourself.

Aha... cool .... they do look awesome .... but that same coloured backing paper is already gnawing away at me.... I'm just in two minds what to do really ?... do I change the paper per level, by school, or by general spell area like before..... ....

So much colour and such rich icons, I think I might be creating a few more shades of scroll .... .... ...
