just figuring rather than haveing to types of special arrow to prevent spells from being cast... maybe instead, AA could have one for prevention (silence), and another for stripping spells that are already active (dispelling) that gains benefit from both their AA and Arcane casting levels?

Being able to dispel things like Tempest's Protective Gale would sorta balance things a bit.... cuz right now, that spell *dominates* any enemy that relies on projectiles. Its duration is a good balance, 1rd/2levels but it makes sense that AA's would have some trick up their sleeve for dealing with it.

I was thinking about that too.... If the silence arrow could be blocked by immunity like the silence spell, the disruption arrow's purpose would be to cover the immunes and silent casters... silent casters not being particularly common even in the remotest.

The chance to zap away gale would be excellent. 100% miss chance is zomgsuck for AA's, and I'm certainly glad I have not met any bandit mages and/or liches or such who cast that one while playing Angie.

Being able to zap away stoneskins, or other such defenses would be great for AA's too given that even with a mighty+5 bow and elemental arrows, an AA's damage per hit is below an equivalent meleer's damage output with a +5 weapon with crystals. Beholder mages or such who cast ethereal visage... even more of a pain in the backside as the DR from that doesn't "wear down" like stoneskin or premonition.

That sounds boss...it's all about the balance, and it makes the AA a bit more appealing, a bit more arcane.

And on a side note, Manny Jabrielle...

I know it's none of my business who you let play your PCs, but a bandit mage? Aren't you worried that they might totally get the wrong kind of armor and screwbar Angie's image all to the Hells? And personally, i'd never let a lich near my keyboard ... imagine the mess...

It's just the way i read your post in my head. I'm in my basement, and i don't like to talk when no one is around. So this:

sounded like you let bandit mages and/or liches play Angie, and you're glad they don't cast that spell while they do. That's all.

Have I sufficiently confuzzled you yet? XP 8P

I do? *now looks confused*

daveyeisley and MannyJabrielle have good points, though ... give the AA
a better variety, and an ace in the hole to deal to pesky Tempest
users. Viva y'all!

Ah...

While on topic of Arcane Archers... another suggestion.

Death arrow. 1 use per day, DC 20. Flat, no change by level in either usage or DC, so a level 30 AA's arrow of death is no different at all from a level 10 AA's arrow of death, and at a piddly 1 use a day, it's not any use at all, particularly for the higher level baddies who will only fail on a 1 roll.

Could this ability be tweaked to have it's DC scale to AA level like imbue arrow?

I caught it the first time you mentioned it, Eric... hehe. I didnt read it the same way first time, and I had a short "huh?" moment when I read your post... then i went back and re-read what manny wrote... and now I can see how one might read it that way Razz

Still, it doesnt make a lot of sense the "baddies playing his PC" way, I guess my brain just interpreted the language in the way that made sense the first pass through.

even better... use the monk's stunning fist formula (substituting casting stat for WIS).

That would work too, lower DC overall, but higher DC for characters with lower AA levels, it would kinda make it a drawback to focus on AA beyond the first 10 levels though.

As for casting stat, that doesn't seem to jive when I think about it...That would be out of sync with imbue arrow, which uses dex for it's DC, and would seem to favor those PCs which take the minimal 10 AA levels for the arrow (and favor their arcane class) over those who go for broke and take 30 AA. The 30th level AA should logically be far deadlier with the AA abilities than the dabblers.

Just a thought too... the arrow focus abilities are very much like how death arrow works in PnP, where the AA crafts an actual arrow and carries it around until used, could also work Death arrow to craft the arrow used instead of firing off an essentially non-existent missile as it currently does Smile
