Partially Used: League Shops

As a Dwarven member of the UMDNLT (ie; UMD Needs Luv Too), could all the League shops be opened to all classes, and allow the individual restrictions on items to be the only barrier for purchases?

I mean, a fairly hefty fee is already paid for membership, and being told by a Gnome merchant that he will not open his stores to me though I have not only have 40 ranks of UMD and two Skill Focus feats, but also a helm that reveals all scrolls and a full purse is almost as irriatating as being informed I do not dress well enough to purchase cutlery....

Yes, have to agree there...bard and arcane archer who could use medium armor and martial weapons can´t access the fighter merchant...so legalize it!

I'll have to say the league shops need a little "updating"... and a few more options availiable... say some aimed for each class, and prestigue class... with things those classes would find more useful...

... and perhaps bluff checks could play a part in the merchants ?... you could wield a sword as a bard and bluff your way into being a fighter... ... ... maybe intimedate should play as well ?... "I'm a big hefty orc barbarian, now show me what you sell puny wizard dude"...

But I do like the idea myself. I always found that the clerical shops had almost nothing useful to my cleric, even from the moment I got access to the store. I won't even go into how useless the items were (IMHO) for my sorcerer by the time I got there, though I admit, I did get to it rather late...

The wiz/sorc shop has the largest, and most useful selection out of all of them. The rogue/bard shop has the nice agility belts, and a +4 longsword, but beyond that... the selection is rather meh.

I'd like to see the shops updated, more diverse inventory, even if the items aren't exceptionally "powerful", but unique and useful.

Also... perhaps the "fighter/wizard/priest/rogue" disguises could be used to access the shops, if nothing else? There doesn't seem to be a single use for the disguises since they were introduced, althoguh I have yet to see if the wizard disguise would get one access to the Macedone wizard's guild or not.

The one good thing on that wizard shop in there...is the wizard's familiar dagger. It levels with the wizard..and once you hit bout 25th level(i think) it provides fireball unlimited/per day...which is very nice when dealing with mummies and what not

Personally.... I think of it this way:

The league is a social club that also offers equipment for purchases.
I never understood why certain "professions" would be allowed to purchase certain equipment, but that same equipment would not be sold to other professions. I mean, if you run a shop out of your club... you dont turn away a member's business cuz his chosen profession is different. You sell the same stuff to all members, period.

If they can afford it, they should be able to buy it. Some things they wont be able to use, so they may not bother buying them.

If its an issue that the accumulated "stock" of items would be too many pages of inventory for a single merchant, hence they had to be broken down somehow.... then why not go with the usual standard of merchant specialties and separate it into different merchants for weapons, armor, scrolls/potions, rings/amulets/staves/wands/rods, misc.... rather than the currently nonsensical (imo) class based restrictive purchase layout.

The next planned reset will have minor changes to the league merchants.

They will still be limited by class, but wearing a proper disguise (wizard, rogue, fighter, or priest) will allow access to that store's inventory.

I also updated the inventories for the newer holy symbols, large shields with holy symbols, and updated bracers/rings/amulets/etc.

Call me crazy, but what are you guys talking about?

There is a place in Mountainholm Castle called the League of Extraordinary Adventurers. Kind of an "adventurer's social club". Complete the right challenges (subject to eventual updating), and you can enter the rest of the building an find a few useful practice rooms and shops.

The practice rooms are neat...

Although, I gotta wonder what the clerk was thinking moving those archery targets so people would be shooting towards the door in the fighter room *grins*

Explore the building in Mountainholm Castle thoroughly. One of them will have a half orc named Grag Kolteff.

Talk to him to learn more. There *is* a level requirement to gain the chance to take on the challenges, as well as a cost im gp, but Grag will still tell you about it even if you dont have the money or the level needed.

How do you get said proper disguises? I haven't been able to find them in the HoD list.

They're not through the HoD. Check out clothing vendors. There's two that I know of that sell the disguises (although one requires you to be of one of the 'sneaky' classes to view his 'secret' inventory)

Lock and move since the disguises have been in for a good while now?
