Extra melee damage type?
If you have say, a longsword, and add extra melee damage type bludgeon to it, it'll be doing both bludgeon and slashing damage. It's not adding any extra damage, just causing the weapon to do another type of physical damage.
This is useful for say, making your longsword able to bypass the slashing and peircing resistance skeletons have.
