I agree that some merchant guards are quite needed, especially seeing as this prosperous city lies between Calinthian raiders, Orc slavers, and Troll bridge central. Fire and acid dmg ain't a bad thought either....

Don't forget the lycans ;-)

As someone who's been guilty of leading a pack of like six (!) werewolves into Tradeholm, I have to agree with this suggestion.

Actually, this is something I had been considering putting out there as Crid....

Manny sorta mentioned it in an RP scene a few days ago, too. Rather than guards in platemail with weapons.... a circle of Wizards and Sorcerors, of various alignments but all devoted to Lysis (who is a patron of merchants, i believe) that work to defend certain Towns in exchange for gold.

They would have the fire spells and acid spells to handle it... and it would be a change of pace from regular warrior-type guards.

They could even have a nifty name, like the "Circle of Stars".

Now that sir is a grand idea, I likes it me do.

I suggest some mages linked to the local Tower of Ice as part of the guard. Then at least a few of the troops will reflect the local population.

hehe...someone noticed. The archers are equipped with bows with unlimited fire arrows (and no, they don't ever drop and can't be disarmed)...seems some mages equipped these guards to pelt trolls wandering out of the forest.
