Is the unique ability of this sword affected by crystals and upgrades and so forth?

When "thrown", the only things that contribute to the damage are Strength modifier, Weapon Specialization (scimitar), and the sword's enhancement bonus.

Can that sword be upgraded with blood of magic? (Assuming it's not already at the +5 cap?) And if so, will that upgraded enhancement be applied to dmg?
