Duel Display
I've got a duel display setup going, my laptop with my CRT desktop monitor plugged into it. The laptop is the primary display.
I want to run NWN fullscreen on the secondary display, but I can't find how to do that without switching the CRT to be the primary display.
If anyone has any info on how to make that happen, I would be most appreciative.

Re: Duel Display
To my understanding, it depends on what the laptop's hardware will support.
For XP:
If you know that the laptop is capable of simultaneous dual-display, it should show when you right click your desktop, go to Properties, and then click the advanced tab. You should see two boxes with the numbers 1 and 2 in them to denote that two displays are available.
For Vista for Win7 its a bit different, but what you are looking for is the display driver detecting support for, and showing configuration options for, dual-monitor/dual-desktop/dual-display.
Most laptops I know of allow for the fn-F8 command to switch the active display output, but I believe the video chipset needs to support dual-display to do what you are looking for.
What make and model of laptop is it? Do you know what video chipset it uses? What video driver is it using? What OS is the laptop running?

Re: Duel Display
Provided the lalptop has the hardware and driver support, you may need to specify when starting NWN that the application should run in full screen on the secondary display. How to do that will depend on your OS and driver, I believe.

Re: Duel Display
That's what I'm trying to find out, how to get NWN to start on the secondary display. All my other games are great for lazy bums as it'll let you specify within their video settings which display to use. I can't find that option in NWN, and I didn't find anything in the ini files

Re: Duel Display
You may need to apply switches to the command executed by what ever shortcut you use to launch NWN.exe.
As for what those switches might be, I have no idea.
You might have to start NWN in windowed mode, move the window to the second display, and then maximize it.

Re: Duel Display
Hrmm, probably easier for me then just to switch the primary display over to the other monitor then if I want to use that one.
Too bad NWN doesn't have an adapter selection within it's vid options... games with that are so easy to swap around

Re: Duel Display
If you are able to run other games fullscreen on the secondary display while keeping your desktop on the primary display, then I am certain there is a way to do that with NWN. I just dont have the information to figure it out.
What OS? What model of laptop?

Re: Duel Display
No need, I'll just keep playing NWN on the laptop screen Main reason I was looking to swap was to get a wireless signal, I gotta keep the laptop right next to the window, causing me to reach all the way across my desk to type on the keyboard (big big desk).
Simpler solution... I moved my desk around so my chair is right next to the window

Re: Duel Display
Thats all good
If you don't mind, I would still like to learn the solution for myself.
I need to ask you if you would be willing to PM me with the dell service tag # from the bottom of the laptop? I tried to look up the configuration, but it wants service tag, so I assume that means they have released several configurations under the model "vostro 1500". If you send me the service tag, I should be able to track down the chipset info, and hopefully that will lead me to the configuration info we need.
Also, as my partner and I just got ourselves hooked up with a LogMeIn account, if you feel comfortable with it, I would be willing to set it up so that I could remote in and share the desktop so we could see if we cant get it working. It might be helpful if I could actually see the display options>advanced tab, etc.
Up to you if you feel comfortable supplying me with the service tag, or allowing the remote connection. I understand completely if you don't feel comfortable with it, but I wanted to offer.

Re: Duel Display
The service tag would be a no go, as my father had this latptop before me, and used it while out in the field... the tag is pretty much scraped into being unreadable.
Once I get my cable connection back, the remote connect would be doable though. We could try while I'm on the wireless, but the signal is very unreliable.

Re: Duel Display
I will generate a deployment link for logmein and PM it to you. When you click the link it will assist you in downloading and installing the logmein connection client, and making that installation accessible to my logmein account.
May not be able to deploy tomorrow, but sunday at the latest.

Re: Duel Display
This may seem a silly question but how can you start NWN in windowed state? I am using dual monitors and would like to move NWN to the secondary 1 to play on.
